High school girls make pregnancy pact {ParentDish}
Jun 21st 2008 3:14PM Wow! Let's stop and think for a minute here! A group of girls makes a pact to be pregnant by the end of the school year; and 17 of them actually succeed. I understand the 2 school officials needing to do something to put a stop to it. I disagree with the idea of them going behind the parents backs. Nothing was mentioned though of the parents reaction to this pact. Where were they? Sex education begins in the home, not the school. The fact that these girls made a pact to get pregnant and have children together tells me that the parents must not be very involved in their lives. These girls were obviously craving attention and unconditional love. Both of which a baby will give you. I hope that 18 years from now, these 17 girls will have matured enough to understand their decision better and will have loved their children unconditionally and given them enough respect to take them aside and explain what happens when one has a baby, especially at such a young age. Had my mother done that with me, I probably would not have engaged in sexual activity in high school and would not have had my 15 yr. old at the age of 19. Don't get me wrong, he's the best thing that ever happened to me and I would not change having had him at such a young age. However, I had to grow up real fast back then. I wish the 17 girls the best of luck in raising their children. Babies are gift from God and having the privilege of raising one is a blessing.
