Galley Gossip: Airline for sale! {Gadling}

Jun 23rd 2008 4:58PM LMAO Cassie ~ You should go back to school for reading :) I believe that Heather said that they choose girls of the same size so they only have to buy one size uniform...keeping costs low. I have been married for 16 years and I have NEVER hit on a pilot, but have had them hit on me..yuck! Why would you "NOT" book a flight if you knew the food to be wonderful?? So let me get this straight, you would like to sit next to a fat passenger and eat bad food served by Flight Attendants in ugly uniforms? OK, Cassie you win :) you will not be invited to fly on My Plane...Heather~ please tell me where I can send in my resume, I'll be looking forward to hearing from you soon ;)

Galley Gossip: Flight Attendant Pet Peeve #2: Back to your seat, please! {Gadling}

Jun 23rd 2008 3:56PM I had my lunch, a brown bag, sitting on the counter in the galley. I turned by back for a moment only to find a passenger putting trash in the bag along with my food. I was shocked and when I asked why he would do such a thing he said "I didn't want to bother you and I thought that was trash." I told him that was a nice idea but he just ruined my $14.00 lunch. He went to his bag and gave me $20.00. I went into my bag and gave him $10.00 back. I did get to eat part of it before the garbage went in so it only seemed fair. Please don't help yourself or take anything from the galley or jumpseat if your not invited first. It might not belong to the airline but to the Flight Attendant. I remember a passenger taking a magazine from my jumpseat than, before I could say anything, went right into the bathroom. YUCK!

Galley Gossip: Stew Shoes (the search continues...) {Gadling}

Jun 12th 2008 7:09PM Its funny how the older we get the more me talk about stuff like this :) I remember back in the 80's I would wear stiletto pumps, mini skirts and yes dare I say it "big hair"!! Fast forward to 2008 and I turned in my dress for uniform pants so that.... A) I wouldn't be cold on the allnighter and B) so I wouldn't have to change my shoes. It freed up tons of space in my tote and I like being comfy all the time. I do agree that the dress, with all of the accouterments, Is the prettier choice....but at 43 I'll take the sensible shoes any day.

Jun 7th 2008 1:51AM Your right it not "Rocket Science" but it's not just pouring you a drink either. Its one of those jobs that can be deceiving to someone who doesn't understand it. We deal with all the safety issues and communication with the cockpit and ground crews. We help those who need special assistance and hang coats and serve drinks but I couldn't list all of the things we do on one flight here, it would take to long. I understand that I seem like a waitress to you but I'm not. I am expected to do many things on one flight and even if I don't come over to you and tell you all the things I'm doing, please don't think that the only thing running thru my head is "I wonder what 13B would like to drink".

Jun 6th 2008 11:08AM Cassie -- Great benefits and over paid? I'm sorry but I made 30,000 last year and I've been with my company for 10 years. The new hire flight attendants are making around 18,000. I have no pension and I have to kick in money for the rest of my benefits such as health care and life insurance. I'm away from home for more than half the month and I can't remember the last time I was off for a holiday. This is my job and I understand that, but I'm really not sure why you feel you can be so nasty. Everyone, at sometime or another, will complain about their job. I understand that each job has its ups and downs but you seem to think that we have no right to complain about ours. Walk a mile in our shoes and than see if you feel the same way.
