Life Nomadic: The Pan Panama Road Trip Begins! {Gadling}

Feb 25th 2009 3:49PM That food does sound good. I spent most of my trip in Bocas Del Toro, make sure you hit up El Gruta, its a cave about 6km outside of town - any cab can get you there for a dollar or two.

I didn't get to go super far into it because we didn't have flash lights, but I'm sure you guys will be much more prepared.

The Mimibi Timbi is supposed to be awesome if you can hike there. I got lost and spent 8 hours wondering around the jungle.

Enter to win a free Tom Tom ONE GPS unit! {Gadling}

Jul 8th 2008 1:32PM When I get to a new city, I tend to rely more on my own directional skills and locals rather than maps.

I try to find one anchor point, usually where ever I am staying and branch out from there. Then I'll find another point, like a grocery store. By doing this I have a basic network of the area mapped out in my head. If I get lost I'll usually just ask a local.

By combining this "technique" with the fact that I usually just take cabs everywhere, I end up getting around just fine.

May 27th 2008 11:33PM Great review! I only wish I had the kind of funds to stay at a place like this.
