Galley Gossip: Advice for flight attendants in training {Gadling}
Mar 5th 2010 1:24AM My best advice: don't try to get ahead with the material you have to learn. Stay exactly with the instructors. Don't try to learn one aircraft while you are studying another. Flashcards can be very useful. Don't party too much---plenty of time for that. And, as said previously, do NOT be late. At my airline, the saying during training was: "If you're on time, you're late." Be early. Get sleep. Eat well. Let loose every now and then, just not too crazy. It's a great job, lotsa cool people to meet and fabulous places to go. My time at a regional showed me so many great cities here in the US that I never would have gotten to know. You're in for a treat!

Galley Gossip: 20 ways to use a maxi pad in flight {Gadling}
Sep 1st 2009 6:38PM A few years ago, on a regional jet, my First Officer kept whining and complaining about everything and everyone. So, when I turned in my passenger count for the weight and balance, it was written on a maxi pad that I slapped onto his thigh. He stopped kvetching, for a while...
Galley Gossip: Attention Sharon Stone, GIVE ME THAT BAG! {Gadling}
Jul 10th 2009 12:31PM A really nice thing about the regional flight from Kalispell to Salt Lake City--if the passenger checks the bag at the airplane, they retrieve at the airplane as well--no need to hassle with finding an OHB--no need to have to lift it up--just wait a few minutes at the end of the flight and *poof* the bag is brought right to you! No need to go to baggage claim.
Galley Gossip: A question about flight attendant buddy passes {Gadling}
Jul 9th 2009 2:43PM Took my daughter to HNL earlier this year--we were flying IAD-LAX-HNL. Then, oops! Weather in ORD changed everything and the Company re-routed revenue passengers through LAX. After standing by ALL DAY LONG for a couple of seats, we decided to take the last flight to Maui and overnight there, then buy a ticket on Hawaiian to get to HNL the next day. My "free" benefits cost:
a.) our unused hotel room in HNL ($150)
b.) our new hotel room in Maui that we used for 9 hours ($130 on Priceline)
c.) our positive space tickets OGG-HNL ($230)
d.) companion fare ($250.38)
e.) my fare ($136.40)
Total: $896.78
Free? Not hardly....

Galley Gossip: Hanging business class coats (it's just a flight attendant thing) {Gadling}
Apr 28th 2009 12:23PM Hi Heather,
My *thing* is noise--I try to eliminate what I can of it, especially on long-haul flights. Slamming cart doors, oven trays or even FAs talking loudly. I want my passengers to be able to be as comfortable as possible and sleep if they want. It makes the time go by faster and makes for a sort of quiet respite while traveling...(I did say "sort of"!!)
