May 3rd 2010 9:57PM Ramona, It is one thing to be proud of one’s child, gifted or otherwise, and quite another to write paragraphs on a comment page detailing all of the child’s achievements. One commenter actually pointed out that her young child had corrected her grammar. It what universe is this acceptable? Being gifted does not mean being special, or being treated any differently. It simply is what it is!
One parent even suggests that these “gifts from God” are deserving of special treatment due to their higher level of intellect… Have you ever heard of Joseph James? No? He is your garbage man. What are you going to do when he stops showing up? You see, this man is necessary. My point is that it is about application and usability of one’s knowledge that counts. Many brilliant minds have been wasted as the result of elitist thinking. Perhaps you need to step outside of your comfort zone.
As far as using an anonymous title, the internet can be a dangerous place. Perhaps my name is one that would be recognized… This is my prerogative as well as everyone else’s.

Some here actually believe that they have “raised four gifted children”… C’mon, do people know what gifted is? Sorry, but it does not work this way! All ya’ll need now is the book on etiquette!

May 3rd 2010 1:38PM What an obnoxious display of pretentious garbage. Yes, my child is gifted as well, but who wants to hear me brag about this? Not even me! Great your child is bright, now teach them to be good.
Children correcting an adults grammar, etc, not at all pleasant! If your child does not realize that they are a child, you are doing something wrong, not to mention you are doing them a disservice. It’s like George Carlin says, “My child did not lose, he was the last winner”. C’mon, grow up!

May 1st 2010 5:52PM Anyone who has immigrated to this country should be concerned about the protesters. Presumably those who have moved here from their homeland, have left their country of origin for a better life. If people are allowed to immigrate illegally, we may as well live in Mexico (or worse)! There has got to be a precedent. Make no mistake, The politicians, including Barak Obama, know this. For them, this about the November elections. Seemingly, they do not give a rat’s @ss about our quality of life. Enforce this law throughout the land! It is already the law!
This is not about racial profiling, but rather checking the legal rights of a person who is in the process of committing a crime. This is always done. Are you aware that people may be asked for their ID at any time by law officials? Vagrancy is not legal, heard of loitering? How do you suppose that this is determined? Protesters of this law either A) have a dog in the fight, or B) are not paying attention.
Everyone crossing the border illegally is not Mexican. Any country that does not secure it’s borders is doomed. All elected officials know this. So do all thinking human beings. Leaving the border open to illegal immigrants is leaving ourselves and our loved ones open to terrorist attacks! The time is NOW to put a stop to this, before it is too big.

Mexicans are not the only ones who are crossing the boarders illegally... Remember 9/11? A repeat of that would leave the Hollywoods writing, producing, and singing a new "We are the world" song. It irritates the Sh*t out of me that people go about their lives half asleep...
