"Bizarre Foods" on the Travel Channel: Asia potpourri {Gadling}

Apr 28th 2008 2:21AM The Northeast of Thailand is a great place to try wierd and wonderful foods. Whilst you can readily find normal Thai dishes, and the ever popular "Isaan" specialities such as Grilled Chicken and Som Tam, you can also partake of insects - grasshoppers, maengda (that look like cockroaches) and worms, ant eggs, and even freshlyt prepared amniotic sack!

The grasshoppers and water beetles were my favourites, and the opportunity to taste amniotic sack is definitely soemthing that Westerners are missing..although if it catches on I predeit a vast backlash from the Mother Cow Rights League!
