When you lose free speech, you lose freedom entirely. free speech is the last bastion of hope for mankind. if you can't freely express your thoughts or say words that someone else does not like, then you are being controlled and used for the tool that you are.

Jun 23rd 2009 4:33PM My first thoughts have already been shared by several. The immediate pros and cons: if you're not doing anything wrong, the cameras won't really affect you. But then that's the thing... how many rolling stops will receive traffic tickets in the mail? How many victimless crimes will now be punished simply because a camera caught somebody smoking a joint behind a tree? Any technology can be abused. It's up to the people to know there rights and exercise them. And I'm sure this can be abused in order to accumulate citations. But if somebody pulls a hit and run, we'll all be glad that there are surveillance cameras around every corner to catch the culprit. So, it's a mixed bag that needs to be used accordingly, and not to write jay walkers tickets.

is it possible that this kid, at all of 4 years old, an age before kids start going to school, made a bonehead mistake?
of course it is. kids do sumb things all the time.
is it also possible that this kid was being entirely deviant at four years old?
sure. like god, the devil works in mysterious ways.
however, making the kind of claims you people are making, truly makes you the shameful ones. so quick to judge, so slow to begin to understand anything... just take things at media face value. you weren't there. you don't know the family. but you can throw a stone through a glass house like nobodies business. good luck with that. some of you perfectionists and know it alls will falter, and those of your ilk will be there to judge and condemn you for not being perfect any more... then you can perhaps begin your return to normalcy. AND EVERYBODY LOVES FRIED CHICKEN, BLACK OR WHITE OR WHATEVER. sorry if you don't like fried chicken, but it's not racist, even if it is low brow (just to sell some chicken, using a world famous name).

You're in control of your life, only you can weather the storms. this poor girl will miss the best years of her life, and her family and friends are left behind to wonder what could have been done differently. all life is precious and beautiful and should not be as something so whimsical as to be taken for granted and ended prematurely by one's own hands.
