Skooba makes with the pictures of TSA-friendly bags (update: not really) {Engadget}
Jul 8th 2008 10:03AM Hmmm, i wonder if there's any difference between what they use at checkpoints in the UK and in the USA, because here in London, you're not required to take your laptop out anymore. It's a relatively new development that i've noticed, something they put in place in the last 6-12 months.
Test your UNESCO World Heritage Site geography {Gadling}
Jan 15th 2008 8:23AM First time score: 900,693. Woot!
I didn't play it from the linked site though... The traveler IQ challenge can be added as an application to your Facebook profile, and they have several other challenges there, including Flags of the World! Now that was hard.
The modern couch potato {Gadling}
Jan 15th 2008 8:11AM Wow, you're clueing into Couchsurfing only now? It's been around for quite a while now, at least a year before I joined in 2004. Come on, where's the real travel advice for us carefree and cheap travellers?
BTW, agree totally with #1... def need to plan in advance, though it's excellent if you plan on staying somewhere for more than a few days... a couple days hostelling, a couple days couchsurfing... good combo.
More office time killers: Lufthansa's Virtual Pilot {Gadling}

Rent a green (tomato) car in London {Autoblog Green}
Dec 21st 2006 9:01AM It doesn't look like a car hire (rental) service as much as a taxi or minicab service. Big difference there.
Cineplex Galaxy buys Famous Players {Cinematical}
Jun 14th 2005 9:33AM Wow. That's big news. I don't live there anymore, but back when I was growing up, there were only 2 big chains - Cineplex Odeon and Famous Players. Their insane cinema build-up led to some of the biggest multiplexes I've seen, especially the Silvercity line for Famous Players. In recent years, I think there have been inroads made by American chains like AMC or Loew's so maybe that's why this merger is happening, but they'll definitely be the dominant brand north of the 49th parallel.
