Jun 15th 2008 12:39AM As much as us yanks like to bash the french, they are actually pretty good pilots.

That video has some clips of Mirage and the Alpha Jet you mentioned, from the movie Les Chevaliers du Ciel (which is french for Knights of the Sky) but the English title is "Skyfighters."

Use your own credit card to book your flight or get knocked off {Gadling}

Jun 7th 2008 6:54PM I bought a ticket for my wife on Cathay from LA, but I also had to buy her a separate ticket from Tucson to LA, and there was no way I could show my face in LA. When I saw the fine print on the ticket after paying with my credit card, I wrote a letter with my signature saying my wife was authorized to use my credit card, I included a copy of my driver's license and a photocopy of the credit card (which I made my wife destroy after showing the airline). The airline accepted that.

I worked at Penske Truck Rental and anybody using a credit card in somebody else's name was required to have a letter from that person with a photocopy of the their ID and the credit card, along with a signature, so I prayed that it would work as well for Cathay and it did.

Cockpit Chronicles: Bombed in Paris {Gadling}

May 20th 2008 10:55PM I once got crapped on by a pigeon in France. As gross as it is, it is actually considered a sign of goodluck in Europe.

Man sues Jetblue for making him sit on toilet during flight {Gadling}

May 13th 2008 8:12PM His story sounds like somebody fishing for a settlement. He should be grateful that he even got a buddypass, come on, seriously $2 million?!? Everyone is trying to degrade and take advantage of the airline industry. The story I heard was that the guy was nice enough to let a jumpseating flight attendant use his seat and she fell asleep. By regulations, he couldn't use her jumpseat, and he was too timid to wake her up and ask for his seat back so he decided to sit on toilet. This man should be ashamed and I feel sorry for the poor sap who gave him a buddypass.

Plane Answers: How to become a pilot at 40 years old {Gadling}

Apr 13th 2008 1:52PM If you are military and have GI Bill benefits available, you may be eligible to have up to 60% of pilot training paid for AFTER private pilot license is obtained (because MGIB is for *continuing* education). Remember, if you qualify for MBIG, it only works at a part 141 school (vs part 61) and it has to be APPROVED by the VA, so not all part 141 schools will take GI Bill benefits. If you already used up your MGIB then ignore my post.
