Apr 24th 2008 8:41AM I'm a Canadian, and we're about on par with the US for lack of vacations taken...

This year I'm up to 21 days of vacation. I'm taking every stich of it too. Life's far to short to not get away.

Later this year, I've got 2 weeks in Europe booked, then back to work for a month before splitting to Mexico for another week.

I'm not sure what it is about North Americans and our lack of desire to travel, but plop a vacation on a European, and he's on a plane to somewhere the next day...

Without vacations, my sanity would soon evaporate...

As I'm sure Kurt can attest to, 95% of major media reports pertaining to Airlines and Aircraft, are either factually wrong or prone to hyperbole.

We've now gone 8 years since the last major airline crash in North America. This is a great stretch, and safety IMO has never been higher. I fly several times a year for pleasure all over N.A. and Europe, and I have never felt unsafe.

Thanks to Kurt and all the other Pilots (c/o & f/o's) who get millions of us safely to and from our destinations every day.

Last November, I flew from Paris to London Heathrow, London Heathrow - Toronto, Toronto-Chicago, Chicago-Detroit.

I had my bags inspected in Paris, London & Toronto. When I got home, I realized that I had a dreaded tube of chapstick in my carry-on, that I forgot was there.

All those screeners were concered about my camera, but not one of them caught the chapstick tube...
