Nov 30th 2007 6:51AM Ok, here's a scenario: You have a 2 year old. Doesn't talk much yet. 2 year old tries to touch a hot stove. Doesn't listen to "No".
Do you stand there and watch the child get severely burned and say "You'll get a time out!"??
Or do you smack the child's hand or butt to grab their attention (not to injure) and get them out of the way of danger?
Is THAT spanking?
I think not. Sometimes you have to think quickly as a parent and I don't want the state or government making that decision for me on how to discipline my child when it comes to preserving their immediate safety.
Laws like this are dangerous.
