20 tips for surviving a summer road trip, courtesy of touring musicians {Gadling}
Apr 14th 2011 10:05AM You forgot the food... Due to allergies and cost, I pack 90% of what we eat on the road. A cooler full of iced drinks from Costco, and a cooler that has snacks and meals means big savings when on a long trip. $25-30 worth of snacks and drinks will cost over $100 if you hit the vending machines at rest stations or truck stops.
Pat McGrath Proclaims Red Lips as Spring 2011 Beauty Trend to Try Now {Stylelist (Main)}
Nov 20th 2010 11:56AM Really? I know the whole blood wine lips/ vampire mystic thing is going on right now. But REALLY? Honestly I know of no adult that would wear it, and by adult, I mean no one under 20 who doesn't have a vampire fetish... These designers need to spend a month at the mall, at the park, at an office building, and on the subway to get a reality check and design for real ppl not the Anime or Fantasy divas that walk around in their heads.
SmackDown: Should Body Piercings Be Allowed in School? {ParentDish}
Sep 15th 2010 3:40PM The school board was basically 'told' by the Governor's office, CO Education Secretary, and Obama's Education Czar to 'make the issue go away'. The state doesn't want to seem intolerant.
I agree that it should have been fought but it was in a different district. Anything to be PC.
SmackDown: Should Body Piercings Be Allowed in School? {ParentDish}
Sep 15th 2010 3:00PM I read 36 pages of post and it isn't about religious freedom, generational divide or self expression- it is about publicity, litigation and a few forcing thier will on the rest of us. And here's a real situation from last year that got no media coverage. A muslim girl is attending a public school with a 'no head wear' policy, threatens to sue the school so she can wear her burke as 'required' by her religion. The school board says yes to avoid lawsuit and bad publicity. The parents then threaten to sue the school if all other girls don't wear burkes too. Why? because their sons attend the same school and have to look at our 'offensively underdressed' American girls. Result - Colorado school now paying for private muslim school for this family. Which is probably what they wanted in the first place and yet our schools are laying off 10% to 1/3 of teachers in most districts statewide. Relgion has sadly just become another excuse for litigation. She probably just wants the district to 'pay' for a private online high school since her 'religion doesn't allow her to attend class on campus.
SmackDown: Should Body Piercings Be Allowed in School? {ParentDish}
Sep 15th 2010 8:31AM At the school my sister's kids attend they are not allowed to have piercings, even earrings, and no make up or hair products beyond a ponytail scrunchy. They have a 'mom of toddlers' mentality. If anyone complains, distracts or acts out, NO ONE gets to have it. No piercing, hair colorings, expressions of self ( including anything that could be construed as religious, trendy, or gang related) of any kind. The kids wearing the rapper bling, WWJD tee, and pentagram goth, are as like likely to be forced to change clothes as expelled. They can wear khaki, navy, black or denim pants or skirts (but skirts are discouraged). unprinted tees, polos, or oxford shirts. The school boards attitude is one I understand - the kids need to look at the books, commuters, and white boards and not each other. There are 16 other hours in the day OUTSIDE school for that. To the nay-sayers - they are public school with a zero failure rate, and the students agreed to the dress code.
10 Women Reveal Their Quick Beauty Tricks {Shopping Articles Blog}
Jun 7th 2010 10:34AM I have been on a 5 minute routine since college in the 80s and have done most of these tricks. Only I use Tazo Peppermint, Spearamint & Tarragon tea not only as a steam for my face but as a rinse for my hair. I have chemical allergies so I make my own night moisturizer from castor oil, olive oil, and goat cream. I always wear sunscreen after having skin cancer at 20, and makeup rarely. Most people think I am 10-15 years younger than I am. Girls - TAKE CARE OF YOUR Skin and you won't need to be cosmetically 'adjusted' later.

May 13th 2010 1:48PM Some city's have recycle centers that take CFLs - ours is an hour + away in Colorado Springs. CFLs give me headaches and don't last very long in an area where high winds often cause power grid flux. So I use the more durable incandescents, halogens in winter, or solar LEDs for outdoors.
PS. the local power companies are giving 4 packs of CFLs away and ppl still aren't using them.
Hottest Prom Dresses: Top Trends {Shopping Articles Blog}
Apr 10th 2010 10:02AM Our school has a strict "No strapless or spagetti strap" rule after 2 girls in 2 years ended up with dresses around thier ankles. (One in front of a group of much younger students.) The one shoulder dresses are required to have an invisable strap on other shoulder.
As for the risque` dresses, any parent who would let their daughter wear one, they should just post their child's picture on a site for pediphiles, and not be suprised when the girl runs away to go to work at a Vegas bunny farm.
Video of Mancrunch.com Super Bowl Ad Rejected by CBS {Fanhouse Backporch}
Jan 29th 2010 7:46PM Have you watched the Tebow ad? A boy thanking his mother for not having an abortion after being raped. Obviously as a man, you CAN NEVER understand what a HORROR that is, how survivors just want it to be over, and never to think about it again. And as to your wife, medical need not withstanding, it is HER choice, NOT yours and it never will be in this country.
Video of Mancrunch.com Super Bowl Ad Rejected by CBS {Fanhouse Backporch}
Jan 29th 2010 7:26PM My Kids will be watching the Superbowl, I try to watch all the commercial previews. Honestly, THAT ad is too much! What were they thinking? Or rather Were they thinking? If they want to have an ad like that during Weeds or Nip/Tuck - fine, it's cable, on late, and gets blocked here. But during the biggest sporting event of the year?!?
