Behold! My Mac mini media center {TUAW.com}
Jul 26th 2009 7:22AM I have recently replaced our Apple TV with a Mac Mini. I have most of our frequently watched DVD's ripped to the HD with 5.1 DD Sound. It played well on the AppleTV but can't get it to pipe out 5.1 sound on the Mac Mini except with VLC. I've looked at Plex and Boxee and they are way to buggy...
Any Ideas how to get 5.1 sound out of the Mini using QuickTime or FrontRow?
DVD's played back with DVD Player app play fine with 5.1 so it must be a Software Issue.
Plane Answers: What's really in a pilot's 'kitbag?' {Gadling}
Feb 24th 2009 6:41AM Why do pilots in the US have to carry all those manuals and charts? My airline provides everything including charts, manuals and flashlights in the airplane. Our flightbags actually contains only personal stuff.
Plus one set per pilot should amount to be much more than one set per airplane, no? There is some potential for cost savings, no?

Just not true unless you use some serious haxies, but then all bets are off anyways. I don't and have upgraded my installation since 10.2 and across three different machines (used CCC and migration assistant to transfer the files). Rock solid. Just use archive & install to upgrade and it just works. I would not accept an OS that requires me to dry erase and re-install everything. But hey, it's an Apple so you're in luck! :-)
