Nov 21st 2009 11:39AM Just recently I heard a waiter at a local pub tell a table that in order for him to bring them their second drinks, they "would have to tip this time" even though they had no intention of leaving for a while, and were intending to tip at the end. Asking for a tip is a sure way not to get one.
I'm not one of those people who expects to be treated like royalty when I'm eating out, and I'm fully aware of what tips mean to servers. I've eaten at places where nothing seems to be going right, but I've had friendly, caring servers, and I've tipped them. I've also had servers suddenly change from sullen to the happiest person in the world after overhearing the table talk about not giving a tip. Bottom line, tips are for good service. And the places I get good service are the places I'll go back to again and again!

Nov 10th 2009 2:18AM It's always been my understanding that laser treatments work by destroying dark pigments. Which is why they work great on white people with discoloration. But I remember a comment from a dermatologist saying that she would advise against people with darker skin from getting laser treatments because of the possibility of altering skin color. If I had to guess, I'd say that's what happened to Sammy.

Nov 8th 2009 4:12PM Gee, with all the negative comments floating around out there about Fox News, they choose to focus on...Sesame Street!? Here's what I'm thinking, without having seen the clip: Oscar is on the "Grouch News Network", or GNN. GNN is probably a parody of CNN. And who's the rival of CNN? That's right, Fox News. So it seems to me that "Pox News" was created as a matter of convience, and the writers just ran with it.

Nov 4th 2009 3:00PM I really could care less if Anderson Cooper (or anyone else for that matter) is homosexual. It's part of what makes him who he is. My only concern is that being so secretive about it must effect his relationships. His significant other might get the feeling that he was ashamed of him. But, ya know what? This whole "controversy" is generating publicity, and as they say "There's no such thing as bad press!"

Oct 22nd 2009 3:58PM I applaud the idea behind the bedding, but it's the "oh, look at us! We're helping the homeless by buying these ironic bed sheets! Aren't we clever!" attitude of some of the people that will buy these that puts me off. I'm all for raising awareness, but unless you've got multitudes of people tromping through your bedroom, I don't think very many people will even see them!
