Sep 23rd 2008 6:40PM there is a misconception about the USPS...they are not a government entity. The only thing about the USPS being government is the paycheck which has US Treasury on it.
At one time the Post Master was on the Presidential cabinet, hasn't been for a good forty years, that meant money was set aside for the Post Office.. One does not take a civil service exam for the USPS anymore. The USPS is semi-quiasy which means it is a private concern with government rules. So the last choice about government employees is wring. The USPS is a privatized business.
