Obese passenger forces neighbor on US Airways flight to stand for 7 hours {Gadling}

Nov 24th 2011 1:07AM One of my concerns is that the planes are becoming tighter and tighter fits for the average North American passenger (much less the overweight one). The airlines are ordering, and Boeing and Airbus are building, planes for smaller people, not the average Texas sized American.

Ex-Banker Tells How Not to get Ripped Off at a Bank {WalletPop}

Nov 24th 2010 11:07PM It is quite interesting to me that in some bank settings there is a bonus paid for opening an account, etc. I had assumed that the bank employees were all working on a salary and that they had the best interests of the customer in mind. It is pretty depressing to think that everyone is working on commission and therefore notworthy of my trust.

Chaos Theory - Supreme Court: Beacon of Hope {Politics Daily}

Jan 23rd 2010 12:08AM Most Corporations are ruled by profits. If they can't make a profit then they ultimately go out of business. Some actualy try to comply with the laws of the land as long as they can. But many do not. And those corporations whaich are owned by foreigners and whose boards are composed of foreigners have little obligation to understand what is appropriate in the Unied States. They simply will lobby for their own "corporate" interests. This decision seems quite flawed.

As I recall some of the Justices who voted on this may also have conflicts of interests in this matter. Some are happy to make ends meet by collecting honoraria for their speeches. And, of course, who can afford to pay them? Very few individuals.

'Sesame Street' Dig at POX News Draws Backlash, Rebuke From PBS {PopEater}

Nov 9th 2009 1:19AM When I watched the skit, I saw that Oscar was being cast as a "conserative" talk show guy and that he was defending himself to the subsequent caller about all of those kissy people. Kids are sensitive about that kind of stuff not the Fox/Cox/Pox play on words that bothered the complainant. The joke is on the whiner for not taaking a comprehensive view. Methinks he is thin skinned and doest jump to conclusions rather quickly.

United Nations Pulls Half Its Staff After Deadly Attack In Afghanistan {Politics Daily}

Nov 5th 2009 6:54PM It is most interesting in light of the events at Fort Hood today and the U.N.'s efforts to secure its employees in Kabul, but the Yemeni-Saudi issue seems to be an escalation of continued local tensions.

Survey ranks Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle and Los Angeles worst airports in the world {Gadling}

Oct 27th 2009 1:20AM Claire,

Droll commentary, but the comments ring true. Perhaps the worst I ever encountered was New Delhi about three years ago, both the International and National Airports. Strikes, competition among baggage handlers and then the pressing throngs at the taxi/transportation stands. Equal to Cairo in every way for truly otherworldly experiences. Very "exciting".

Survey ranks Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle and Los Angeles worst airports in the world {Gadling}

Oct 27th 2009 12:45AM Actually, I have travelled through SEATAC many times with luggage. The only times I have lost my baggage, in either direction, was when I flew United, (several times although each time it was found and then sent by taxi to my address destination). Perhaps your issue is with the airline or the transfer en route to Indiana and not the airport of origin.

Obama to keep 'death tax' alive {BloggingStocks}

Jan 12th 2009 5:04PM If there is a desire to have family members continue in a small business after the prime owner dies, there are plenty of ways to accomplish that. But the owner needs to work the issue as a part of his/her estate planning.

Estate taxation is appropriate in our society. Excess money gained by one generation gets passed back to the broad public from whom it came.

Insider buying in regional banks {BloggingStocks}

Mar 14th 2008 4:13PM The pe's of some of these banks should be looked at first, as some do not allow for much appreciation even if the earnings increase.
