Why does Allegiant Air need two hours of my life? {Gadling}

Feb 11th 2008 12:52PM Haven't flown Allegiant before. Is the seat selection fee optional? (in other words, can you not pay the fee and just take an open seat?)

Also, I see there is a fee for checked bags. Their website doesn't disclose how much. How much is this fee? Does it vary by length of route?
