No Wrong Turns: How to Surf, by a Wannabe Surfer {Gadling}

Apr 24th 2008 2:31PM Aaron...let's see I have swallowed my weight in saltwater and have numerous bruises...but dude (can I say that now?) it is so much fun!

I am pretty athletic but I lack experience in the water (I grew up near the mountains not the ocean) so part of my battle is not freaking out when I fall in. I have been getting out 2 or 3 times a week and definitely feel less apprehensive about the ocean. I am able to stand up just about every time I catch a little wave but generally lose my balance pretty quickly. Tom (life-long surfer) thinks I will be ready to go out with him in a few weeks...encouraging but also sort of scary!

I think if you took a few lessons, then went out everyday you'd be able to get the hang of it in 6 weeks or less..

Where are you going and when?

No Wrong Turns: How to Surf, by a Wannabe Surfer {Gadling}

Apr 24th 2008 2:24PM Chuck that is really cool to hear...it inspires me to keep trying because one day I will manage to ride a wave! Thanks for reading.

No Wrong Turns: The Longest Road Trip Ever {Gadling}

Apr 17th 2008 4:26PM Hi Jake,

Glad that our trip might provide some insight on how to plan your own road trip to Mexico, Central and South America. So far, RVs seem to be common place in Baja Mexico (where we are right now) many tourists drive them down from the States and they don't really draw too much attention. I am not sure about the mainland Mexico, I suspect you would stick out more but as long as you stuck to the toll roads and stick to driving in the daytime I think you'd be ok. I did write about RV tours that I had found out about here: http://www.gadling.com/2008/02/23/no-wrong-turns-rv-adventures/
This might help you out as well as a company that takes RV tours down into South America from the US and Canada. Their link is http://www.adventuretrek.com/index.htm
Good luck with your planning and thanks for reading!

How to survive your next bumpy bus ride {Gadling}

Apr 3rd 2008 3:30PM Oh man, this reminds me a similar bus ride I experienced in Cambodia. We had to get out every 20 minutes or so and push-start the bus. Not one of the more enjoyable experiences of traveling.

The First Family of Surf: A Documentary {Gadling}

Apr 3rd 2008 3:02PM Hi, I had a good look around on the internet and can't seem to find this documentary's release date in Australia. My only suggestion is to keep an eye on their website as the movie opens in the States this May, perhaps they will put up a schedule for upcoming release dates. Sorry I couldn't be anymore help.

No Wrong Turns: Emos Attacked in Mexico and Chile {Gadling}

Mar 31st 2008 12:40PM Sure can, it is actually a translation from this article in Spanish: http://www.jornada.unam.mx/2008/03/21/index.php?section
=sociedad&article=032n1soc

If you use google translator it will give you a decent translation of the article (though not perfect). Hope this helps!

No Wrong Turns: Emos Attacked in Mexico and Chile {Gadling}

Mar 30th 2008 4:50PM Hmmmm I don't know, I think everyone is entitled to express their individuality (even if it is directly related to extremely good music marketing) without getting physically assaulted for it. I think there are bigger fish to fry in this world than whether 'emos' are posers or not.

No Wrong Turns: Live Rent Free in Mexico {Gadling}

Mar 27th 2008 1:44AM No problem, if you end up housesitting let me know I would love to hear about it. We might try it out when we head to the mainland.
