Straight-up Scandinavia: Learning the language of IKEA {Gadling}
Feb 12th 2008 12:42PM Actually Caitlin, that's not necessarily true : check out the following excerpt from an Economist article I found -
What emerges is an outfit that ingeniously exploits the quirks of different jurisdictions to create a charity, dedicated to a somewhat banal cause, that is not only the world's richest foundation, but is at the moment also one of its least generous. The overall set-up of IKEA minimises tax and disclosure, handsomely rewards the founding Kamprad family and makes IKEA immune to a takeover. And if that seems too good to be true, it is: these arrangements are extremely hard to undo. The benefits from all this ingenuity come at the price of a huge constraint on the successors to Ingvar Kamprad, the store's founder (pictured above), to do with IKEA as they see fit.

European Union may begin fingerprinting foreign visitors (Yes, even you!) {Gadling}
Feb 12th 2008 12:30PM I wish the EU would fingerprint ONLY Americans in the same way the US ONLY fingerprints foreigners...
Air New Zealand to Offer Gay-Themed Flight {Gadling}
Feb 7th 2008 4:07PM I can't believe how dumb some of the comments are, even from the gay guys : this is a SPECIAL flight to MARDI GRAS and ANYONE can buy a seat on it (if they want).
MARDI GRAS is a FLAMING DRUG-ADDLED EVENT and features DRAG QUEENS and this is why Air New Zealand marketed it this way. If they were flying from Auckland to Montréals Black and Blue festival, I'm sure they would leather-it-up etc...
... anyway, it's all about a (state-owned) enterprises right to make money... and if there's a market, give the people what they want.
Gadling's top five US Airports for public transportation {Gadling}
Feb 6th 2008 3:40PM I have never heard of any one taking the train from Beauvais Airport into the city.
Delta passenger gets half of a seat {Gadling}
Feb 6th 2008 1:49PM In New Zealand, I remember reading about a passenger who threatened to take Air New Zealand to the Small Disputes Tribunal for compensation after a similar situation and a similar response from the airline... and a full refund was forthcoming.
I'm surprised in a litigious country like the US that noone has tried to sue... on the other hand, Americans do seem to be quite content to let themselves be done-over by their airlines...
