Please read the comments from people who have been helped by the Salvation Army before making your decision... or better yet... volunteer to man a kettle during the holidays. You will learn first hand how wonderful this group really is. It opened my eyes when I volunteered. Now I support them wholeheartedly.

Jan 5th 2010 9:42PM I wish we knew both sides of the story. I volunteered to ring the bell one Christmas when I was unemployed. I was an unpaid volunteer and couldn't have been more impressed with this organization. There were so many people who came to place money in the kettle and they told me of the time that the Salvation Army helped their family through hard times. I'm sure there are bad eggs in any organization, but that was not my experience. The man who ran this group (Toms River, NJ) was very humble and thanked me repeatedly for offering my assistance. I hope this article does not deter people from donating to this wonderful organization.

The libs ARE running scared. She is such a brilliant woman. She stepped down to do the right thing for her state. The libs are always taken off guard because they are not accustomed to "doing the right thing", particularly when it is for the good of the country and not simply a 'self interest', or 'special interests'agenda.

Aug 22nd 2008 1:16AM ??? Age DOES matter. Being 13 or 14 gave her an unfair advantage to the girls that have matured... have begun hip, breast and height development. Each of these traits cause them to have to exert different muscles to maneuver around the apparatus. Because of He's tiny frame, she could swing through the unevens without having to bend her body. The rules are thoroughly developed to allow FAIR competition for all athletes involved. China is NOT above the rules. Her medals should be stripped and China should be dishonored for stealing the spotlight from the honest competitors.

Feb 2nd 2008 3:57PM That little girl was doing what she LOVED and what drove her. I am that girl.... 50 years older. Although my parents didn't understand horses, and never rode one, they could not keep me away, and finally backed up and LET me do what my heart desired. They were poor, and couldn't afford horses... so the only horses I ever rode were those I borrowed from people I cleaned stalls for.
Any 'horse crazy' girl can tell you that that's the way it is. Today I'm a full time horsewoman. I'm sorry about the tragedy, but don't bubble wrap your children. LET THEM LIVE!.
