Judge sentences men to learn English or go to jail {Gadling}

Mar 28th 2008 10:36AM J'aime bueaucoup que ma pays est bilangue. Je pense que ce n'est pas une probleme si il y a du traduction ou des courtes dans l'autre langue.

But I think in this case the judge hopefully wasn't making a statement against the men's language skills but instead was trying to help them to do well in the US without a criminal lifestyle. - If he let them off completely, then if they didn't find jobs they'd end up in Jail in a few years anyway.

Bilingualism doesn't cost much. Strong unilingualism can - especially in a country with a high rate of bilingualism anyway.

Mexican cruise sickens more than 100 passengers {Gadling}

Feb 26th 2008 9:35AM does $100/day pay you enough to stay in your cabin?

Personally I think I'd want at least $25/hour.

Which would be a lot more than the cruise line ponied up for its passengers:

Experts question biofuel use while Virgin fuels flight with coconut-oil {Gadling}

Feb 25th 2008 11:37AM I love that he's doing it, and yet...isn't coconut just as much a food crop as corn?

Apparently it's being widely billed as greenwashing which I can see, especially in light of your info about carbon levels with biofuels.

But even if the biofuels EMIT more carbon than "natural" gas won't they still have considerably less in their production and much less enviro damage over all?

doesn't sustainability count for something anymore?

Lonely Planet's Burma guide called unethical {Gadling}

Feb 22nd 2008 4:08PM Sounds like a great way to get those books flying off of the shelf - I know I'm tempted.

Do chocolate spa treatments leave you sticky? {Gadling}

Feb 15th 2008 2:58PM "You might not eat it which can help keep the weight off. So you see, don't eat the Godiva chocolate you received for Valentine's Day. Melt it and use it as a facial."

Anyone see the biggest loser a few weeks ago where Bernie smeared the temptation chocolates all over his face instead of eating them "my goal was to be as close to the chocolate as possible without eating them"

Design your own sleeping bag {Gadling}

Feb 15th 2008 2:52PM i'm seriously drooling. Wonder how I can come up with an excuse to get one...

"Tent City" in New Orleans does, in fact, exist {Gadling}

Feb 15th 2008 10:07AM Vets or not, they're still people who deserve better. Even the people who got temporary FEMA homes are pretty screwed now. The things are toxic, unsafe to live in, but they're stuck in them until at least summer:

Eos offers free Sony cameras to all passengers {Gadling}

Feb 15th 2008 10:05AM Airplanes are starting to get a lot more freebies these days. Kraft was handing out breakfast boxes with a new cream cheese recently, now cameras on business class.

It could be a way for airlines to make up for all the service cuts - find sponsors to provide meals and goody bags with hefty advertising.

In defense of Texas {Gadling}

Feb 7th 2008 4:45PM Ooops...we're on the same page - so I guess my answer to your question would be that Texans themselves think that Texas has a distinct identity from the states, but must not realize that in the eyes of most foreigners that difference is that Texas is the worst of the US to an extreme, and not all the lovely things that Texans are proud of.
