Cat Lady Loses 9 of 80 Cats {Pawnation}
Oct 17th 2009 12:37AM It is so heartening to read all of the posts written by the loving, caring, kind, compassionate people on here. I share my home with 8 inside cats and a dog as well as two outside cats as well as a stray that showed up (that we got neutered) and I provide food for the neighbors three cats. A neighbor moved out two summers ago and left all of her cats and kittens. They gravitated across the road to another lady's house. That lady called me because of my former affiliation with our Humane Society. We took the cats that were socialized to our Humane Society and they were adopted. Several others were semi-feral - we trapped them and got them spayed or neutered (all at my own expense). One female got wise to the traps and we couldn't catch her. She has since had two litters of kittens. The lady caring for them all has told me she just can't keep caring for all of them. She is willing to keep about 12. This means that ultimately we need to trap the rest and have them euthanized because they are pretty much feral. This breaks my heart but it is the only solution to this on-going problem. I help out with food for these cats and have provided a few very large crates with straw for them to find shelter. They are still finding shelter somewhere at their old house across the road. By the way, the woman who abandoned them was someone I referred to as the "savior". She brought them home to keep them from being euthanized but that was the end of it. Never spayed or neutered any of them. When she moved, I tracked her down, got an address and phone number and place of employment. I spoke with the Sheriff about this abandonment. He had the Animal Control lady contact me. She in turn took pictures, the name, address and phone number of the scumbag who left those cats to the prosecuting attorney - that POS wouldn't lift a finger to attempt to prosecute on the grounds of abandonment. She's far too busy running her spawn to soccer, baseball, dancing, etc. She doesn't want to spend extra hours in court with these cases. She stated that "it is difficult to prove ownership of cats"! I know this is a lot of reading but I will finish with the fact that when this same prosecutor was pregnant she brought her dog to the Humane Society. I happened to be volunteering that day because we had some employees up and quit. I informed this bit.. that it's likely this dog will be put to sleep to which she replied in a very nasty tone "Why are you telling me that - I feel bad enough about this"? So she felt bad about the dog she was dumping on our overloaded and very small Humane Society just because she was pregnant, but she has no compassion or feeling for the countless cats in our area that are abandoned.

Oct 16th 2009 9:36PM Oinky you are so right. I am sure this good hearted woman didn't actively seek out caring for so many cats but what do you do when they show up at your door - she didn't turn a blind eye to hunger, thirst and lonliness...she probably did the best she could with what she had.
Terry.....I don't believe she acquired so many felines because she didn't have them spayed or neutered.....they appear to have been dumped.

The person who hit it should rot in hell for not stopping and seeking aid for the poor creature. Thank you for being so kind. I believe that people like you will be rewarded some way some how.
