Would you tip this hotel housekeeper? {WalletPop}
Oct 12th 2009 11:41AM There are valid points to everyones comments, I have worked as a waitress, housekeeper and retail as well. The first two don't pay and kick your butt. Retail they EXPECT you to offer excellent customer service and the pay is slightly better plus some minor benefits as opposed to the first two positions. But I thought this was more about leaving the envelope, as if asking for the tip, as opposed to tip or not to tip. Many hotels will give out generic envelopes for the housekeepers to use so that the hotel guest has an actual place to leave the tip AND sadly enough, to identify whose tip it is because there are tip thieves in housekeeping........they won't touch a guests items but they will take another employees tips if they get to the room first, some hotels split all tips between housekeepers as well. There's just no simple answer except to increase pay, some resorts pay housekeepers very well (housekeepers in correctional facilities and hospitals get paid VERY well). I have tipped many, even those who you don't normally think to tip, and usually even a dollar will do, if it's done with the attitude of, "that's all I have, but you were very good at what you did, and if I had more I'd give it"!
Free LAX shuttle to In-N-Out Burgers {Gadling}
Jan 15th 2008 11:34AM Just so you know In-N-Out is how you spell it and if you happen to be someone who doesn't eat meat, well, they don't have it on the menu but they do offer what they call a "grilled cheese" which is basically a cheeseburger without the meat and it is THE BEST of it's kind I have ever had.....and I haven't eaten beef in 29 years and I have travelled ALOT, I have to agree about the best burger around as well, because I do remember how well the burgers taste too!
