Dec 10th 2009 6:57PM What you seem to forget or choose to ignore is that the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress from 1994 through 2006 including 6 years of Clinton's term and 6 years of Bush's term. So you expect me to believe that the Democrats in Congress were able to enact all of the dreadful things that you imply caused this problem in two short years. I would remind you that Bush took office with a surplus and left with a huge deficit after waging war in Iraq and reducing taxes at the same time (the only time that taxes were reduced during war time). Talk about idiocy!!

Sep 17th 2009 2:29PM The President's last name is Obama, not Nobama. But I wouldn't expect you to know the difference. It would seem that certain right-wingers are interested only in name-calling rather than honest debate. It's interesting that President Obama is now calling for some Tort reform. Since this is a Republican mantra, inclusion in a health care bill could make it very uncomfortable for Republicans to continue their attacks and opposition to the bill as well as President Obama.

I would suggest that we would be in a much worse economic situation had we elected McCain (who admited he didn't know much about economics) and Palin (who obviously was not ready to assume the office of President, let alone Vice-President)

Apr 6th 2009 6:02PM I agree with the general condemnation of CEO salaries, but be careful when you paint all charities as having excessive CEO salaries. I'm an officer on the Board of Directors for Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio, Texas and do not receive any compensation which is the way it should be. Further we do not have a CEO, simply an Executive Director and reasonably paid staff running three houses - 50 bedrooms for families of hospitalized children who need to be near their children during their hospitalization. Further we have to raise our own expenses since the McDonald Corporation simply supplies $25,000 seed money for a new house, but does not contribute to our continuing expenses.

Oct 21st 2008 10:07PM Obama is simply trying to rectify the excessive taxation of the middle class and under taxation of the wealthy. This is not Socialism, it's simply a slightly progressive taxation system which we have always had. If you do the calculations properly including social security, medicare, and income taxes, you will find the system is not as progressive as you think. Do not be fooled by comments that the rich pay 50% of the income taxes. This means absolutely nothing unless you also tell me what the taxable income share of the rich is. In 1976, the top 1% of wage earners earned about 9% of the total US income. In 2007, the top 1% earned 23% of the total US income. That's what Obama is trying to do, is simply to bring back some proportionality. Also, Biden's remark about Obama being tested by an international crisis is being overplayed to the absured since Biden ended by saying that they will find out that Obama has steel in his spine. But of course the Republican media (FOX) doesn't mention that.

Jan 4th 2008 2:09PM The issue is not about not kicking a field goal or not or collusion at the end betwen the coaches. The proper issue is that teams are expected to play their best people as long as the game means something in the final rankings. I graduated from Purdue,an Indiana University for those of you that don't know, and I am ashamed of the Colts for obviously playing simply to establish some individual records without regard for the integrity of the game and the ultimate consequences of their EXHIBITION game!!
