Jul 24th 2009 2:32PM Does this mean that Chevrolet, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Chrysler, and etc. must stop putting their logos and names on their vehicles, or they will be banned from the islands as well?
Apr 9th 2009 11:42AM I have been a teacher in a middle school classroom for 8 years now. I made the career switch from being an insurance agent for approx. 20 years. It was during a time when the company I worked for was making a major change in how they conducted business, and I found myself without a job. I looked at it as a time of golden opportunity to do what I always wanted to do, teach.
I went back to college to earn my credential, it looked like an impossible task at the time, but with student loans, and substitute teaching, I managed to make it. I landed a job at a middle school after sending several resumes and sitting through several interviews. I am happy I made the switch, but I would have to say that this is one of the most time consuming jobs I have ever had. I spend at least 12 hours a day at it preparing lessons, grading papers, and speaking with parents, not to mention the 8 hours in the classroom.
I am approaching reatirement now, and the one regret I have is that I didn't plan for my retirement properly. The govenment penalizes you for making the switch. I will not get full social security benefits even though I put into the system for 30 years. I would strongly suggest that anyone making such a career change should look into, and participate in a tax deferred retirement plan while they are teaching.
Aug 18th 2008 11:06AM I am a long time coffee lover. I have tried several brands and flavors. I drink a minimum of 12 cups per day, even on hot days, and sometimes right before bed. (I still sleep well) I don't like to mess up the taste with sweetners or cream, so the coffee must taste good. My favorite is from Sam's club, packaged by Sarks. The flavor is called "Jamaican Me Crazy." I love it so much that I share it with my friends at work and have won many converts to this brand. Delicioso!
Dec 31st 2007 12:57AM I had a Fiat sedan in 1965, my dad bought it new. It was an interesting car. Within a week of purchase, my dad came down the driveway with the brakes smoking. The dealer fixed it. When I came of driving age, it was my first car. I remember replacing the rubber u-joints (flex-plates) several times, and once the column mounted 4-speed stick came off in my hand while I was shifting!
I know that they must have improved since then, and I think I would test drive one if for no other reason than nostalgia.
