Harley-Davidson to shut down Buell, MV Augusta Brands, finally {Daily Finance}

Oct 15th 2009 6:17PM "However, a lack of acceptance by the company's dealer network and inadequate investment in building the brand kept Buell from finding any real traction."

That and as a sport bike they suck compared to Euro or Jap Bikes.

"Unlike its competitors, the uniquely American brand cannot offshore its business without risking damaging backlash from its customers."

I got some news for you Tommy, which I am sure you already know. Since the mid 1990's Harley has been importing their electrical systems, fuel systems and suspensions from Japan. I guess that only makes it half a Jap bike.

Citigroup tries to shed $100 million-man Andrew Hall {Daily Finance}

Oct 9th 2009 3:10PM All you big minded finance wiz's can correct me if I'm wrong. But Citicorp is basically playing with the governments (the people's) money and I'm not talking about TARP funds. The Fed doles out money to wholesale banks like Citicorp who push it further down the line (including their own retail unit) while taking their huge cut. For simply no other reason then that is what the status quo is. In this day and age what role to wholesale banks play? Why can't the government simply loan to the end user? If a private entity like Citibank wants to loan money they should do it like they did in the old days by raising strictly private capital. Then they can compete with government rates of around 4-5% Bet you they will and bet you they would still make money. There simply wouldn't be golden boys like Hall (and 1000’s of lesser versions) making 100mil for no other reasons then he had the right connections to get him at the right place at the right time.

People who say he 'earned his money', please. You either don't have a clue. You make your living 'working' in the corrupt finance market. Or you are hoping to do the same thing that Hall did.

Someday enough of us simpletons are going to have had enough and it's going to look like France circa 1790.

Vanity Fair poll: We're a Walmart nation {Daily Finance}

Sep 29th 2009 5:59PM People who make a walmart wage (with no healthcare) need a place like walmart to shop at.

It's actually a said but true comment on the current state of affairs in our country. For the last 30 years or so the middle class has been getting hammered. No more cradle to grave jobs, no good quality affordable health care, no security. And the reason for it is simply greed and government deregulation to facilitate greed. It will reach a boiling point soon.

Should you stop paying your credit card bill because your rate went up? {WalletPop}

Sep 16th 2009 5:30AM I took that tactic with several of my credit card companies that tried to raise my rate for no other reason other then they could. After a month or two they caved in and all (3) gave me rates under 6%. My credit score took a hit (750 to 650) for a year but I already own a house and didn't plan on buying (financing) a car. So it wasn't a big deal.

Zac, your advice is bad. This is nothing more then legalized loan sharking. People should be outraged and they should do something about it. Personally I'm all for 100,000 or so people getting together at the BoA headquarters for a rather graphic display of our displeasure. But in my case I just wrote my congressmen. Oh Zac, you forgot to mention that people could call their credit card companies and opt out of the rate raises. In my case, I travel months at a time for work and that was the window when I got the notices. Why is it CC companies don't assume you'd rather close your account then accept the new loan sharking rates. What a tool you are Zac.

Not to be topped, Hooters offers value menu {WalletPop}

Aug 27th 2009 4:31PM Applebees and Hooters, two places where the food in unedible.

There's a new Hooters about two miles from me. I went there a few times but stopped going, the food is just too bad to outweigh the other "attractions". I live in the Northeast, maybe it's a regional things. The food and waitresses were a lot better in the south part of the country.

Reality TV Star Lived High-Flying Life {PopEater}

Aug 25th 2009 6:44PM He probably freaked when he finally realized/accepted she was an escort. Not to shift blame from him one bit. If he had been caught he should have got two in the head.

She earned her car, she earned her penthouse apartment. Everybody loved this girl, whether they were movie stars or producers or the garbage collectors at the apartment complex," her mother adds.

had been seen this summer with Fiore in a swanky, new apartment building in central Los Angeles where she occupied a penthouse.

At the time, she worked mainly in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, including gigs where she was bodypainted at parties.
