Jan 21st 2012 6:24PM These folks must be living on another planet!! Home sales in our area continue to fall and values, according to the most recent data(yesterday) continue to drop. Our community is in Virginia and we have not seen near the high unemployement of other states. Why do I think Washington is feeding us some "cooked" numbers?? Maybe that's what they always do!!

May 28th 2011 9:59AM Come on guys, let's focus on the real problems. This was always a "fun" part of birthdays when I was growing up. Of course that was before all the whinning and blame games! Nobody even got PTSD!! Kids grew up with respect for parents and teachers!! There were 32 kids in my 6th grade class and we all behaved! We knew we would get a "real spanking" when we got home if we misbehaved in school. I feel for the teachers of today's schools. Must have police officer to maintain control in today's schools. Maybe a little more birthday spanking wiould help!

Mar 6th 2011 9:29PM Our middle child, Chuck, is 52 years old and has Down Syndrome. In 1958 when he was born, the doctors told us he was a "mongolian idiot" ! Now that hurt!! As time went by, the public softend the blow a little by refering to such children as "mentally retarded" and later with a "learning disability". Just a year ago , the Virginia General Assembly voted to change all references in State documentation from mental retardation to a new term "intelectual disability". This was a thoughtful move. However in our situation, we just refer to our son as "Chuck". All our friends, neighbors, church friends and his employer , Wal-Mart, just call him Chuck. These are the people who matter to us. They love and treat our son with such dignity and courtesy. Isn't that all anyone would want for their child?? We just need to treat our neighbor as we ourselves would like to be treated!

Mar 4th 2011 8:16AM I shop mostly at Wal-Mart and ocassionally at Target and Bloom. Wal-Mart is cheaper and has better variety hands down. You can find specials a either store that are lower. But, when you consider a weeks or months purchases of all products neither Target or Bloom come close!! Bloom has even higher prices that Target!
