Did 'The Jay Leno Show' Kill 'Southland'? {Inside TV Blog}
Oct 12th 2009 5:24PM I would gladly watch Southland if they would nail the damn camera down. Why they think a jerky camea makes things look anything but anateurish is beyond me. Leno doesn't belong in primetime - his show in that slot only proves that late night TV is pretty lame after all.
How to Get Asked Out {Personal Articles}
Aug 15th 2009 11:30PM Another good thing about that "practice dating." Since you know he's not "the one," you can relax and get to know each other and become good friends and close. Sometimes, after a bit of this, lo and behold, he turns out to be "the one" after all. Works well for those guys you might pass over but who turn out to have a lot of great depth - this type of guy gets hotter the better you know him.
Friendly's mini-restaurants: it's not fast food -- not, not, not {WalletPop}
Aug 8th 2009 4:48PM So their solution, instead of retraining their staff or hiring more staff so it isn't so bloody slow, is making the customer do half the work and less comfortable seating arrangements? They'd better be dropping their prices like a stone, too.
Btw, don't forget to report spam comments. The only way to convince the editors that we hate it is to hate it openly.
Win this Organic Cotton Sheet Set from Rubie Green {Shelterpop}
Aug 8th 2009 4:39PM I put a 4-in thick featherbed atop my bed, and use lots of pillows. Different sizes of pillows - eveything from regular, dorm-style floor pillows, body pillows - that can be adjusted for comfort. And I top it all with a flannel comforter, that while warm in winter, is surprisingly cool to lie on top of in summer. Last but not least - a bedside lamp with a three-way bulb, to go from reading to dozing, and a warm glow, It all comes together to make a fluffy, cozy place to snuggle in with my dog and a good puzzle book before sleep.
World Market Adirondack Chair and Table {Shelterpop}
Aug 8th 2009 4:34PM I'd like to see more on storage ideas - not just dopey stuff like covering under-counter space with ruffled curtains, but how to keep home spaces (such as office) presentable and still cool-lookng.
Massucci's Take: Teens don't Twitter? Whatever {Daily Finance}
Aug 7th 2009 11:36PM Twitter is just another fad and a monumental time-waster, and soon everyone will be on to something else. I can hardly believe this writer finds it so neccesary to defend a basically useless service. But... whatever, dude. It's your life to waste.
Family Fights to Keep Pet Pig for Autistic Son {Pawnation}
Aug 7th 2009 11:30PM Give them a variance, for pete's sake. Is it really worth all this? It's not a "hog", it's a small breed intended as a pet and kept in a clean environment. If you've ever been by a modern commerical hog factory farm, you'll know how these bans came into being, and understand that this kid's pet has nothing to do with it.
Ground Beef Recalled on Salmonellosis Risk {Slashfood}
Aug 7th 2009 10:55PM All of these recalls are a direct result of the industrialization of our food supply. Do you know that any meat recall is voluntary, thanks to lobbying by the beef industry? The way they keep and process these animals, it is no wonder that this so-called "food" makes us sick. Buy from your local famrers - including beef, poultry, pork and produce and support laws that make it easier for them to thrive, not be regulated out of business (which is what the agribusinesses want and are lobbying for RIGHT NOW). I don't trust the big agribusinesses anymore. If someone wants to sell me something now, they have to be able to look me in the eye.
As coffee shops cut the cord, are they cutting their own throats? {Daily Finance}
Aug 6th 2009 8:07PM I like how the reviewer rationalizes his cheapness and basically stealing Wifi. I wonder if he left a tip appropriate for his 3-hourWifi binge at the coffee shop's expense. He did not even pay enough for the expense of wiping down the table after he left, but they should feel privileged that he "advertises". Advertises what? That they will tolerate deadbeats who don't buy? Yeah, thanks but no thanks. It is not too much to ask that this skinflint pay for his time - if he is that cheap and selfish, he can go to the library and skip the coffee altogether.
'At the Movies' Replaces Lyons, Mankiewicz: Will It Work? {Inside TV Blog}
Aug 6th 2009 7:38PM I watched this show once and it was all I could stand of these two idiots. Hopefully with the new reviewers it will get back to the formula we all loved - movie wonks who convey their love of the art form to the viewers.
