Grade School's Gender Diversity Program Riles Conservatives {ParentDish}

Jun 1st 2011 6:46PM I'm all for teaching kids that being different is OK- show respect for others and enjoy what makes you unique, all the Disney stuff. But gender is a completely different issue! A biological female human CANNOT become a biological male human even if they can change their outward appearence, behavior, and name to show otherwise.

As for the animals... can people regrow a new tail? No? Then they cannot be "just like" a lesbian lizard. Can people live in the ocean in an anemone? No? Then they cannot be "just like" a transgendered clownfish. Lizards are lizards, clownfish are clownfish, and humans are humans- you are biologically who you are. It's better to save this specific issue until the kids can do their own research and really understand the subject... maybe in a few more years?

Billy Ray 'So Sad' About Miley Cyrus' Bong Video {PopEater}

Dec 10th 2010 8:07PM There'd be just as much of a media-frenzy if she were drunk, no doubt, and alcohal is just as legal. Still, I wouldn't enjoy seeing my kid get drunk after a major family upheaval.

Cat Ladies -- Probably More Well-Adjusted Than You {Lemondrop}

Nov 4th 2010 10:44AM Reasons to love cats:
1) Cats purr (seriously, the most calming sound in the world!)
2) Cats are neat (as long as their litter box stays clean).
3) Cats keep pests (flies/mice/lizards/spiders) away
4) Cats don't bark (i.e. annoy neighbors)
5) Cats don't destroy the house/yard when you're gone too long.
6) Cats listen and (sometimes) pretend to understand you when you talk
7) .... and many more!

Read Between the Lines {MyDaily}

Nov 2nd 2010 6:50PM I completely agree! I was homeschooled from 1st-8th grade, and by 5th grade I was testing at a 12th grade level in every subject. That doesn't mean I was extremely smart- just that the public school system has very low expectations. My parents taught me to love stories, which eventually leads to loving books. Memorizing word shapes and pictures really has no effect on reading!!

Are Tweens Really Ready to Babysit? {ParentDish}

Oct 6th 2010 12:17AM I started babysitting a 2-year-old and 5-year-old when I was 11 for aboout 3 hours at a time (the mom worked from home). I never had first-aid/CPR/emergency training.

However, I didn't babysit for long periods of time until I was about 14; since I volenteered at his school, my 5-year-old brother's friend's parents called me constantly. Personaly, I'd recommend starting to babysit when you're at least 14 (and after gaining expireance where adults can assist you: i.e. church nursery, after school mentoring, watching siblings).

FREE TIP: Bring your old games and toys instead of the ultimate cop-out...movies! Parents really appreciate this, and the kids are more likely to want you to come again if they have fun.

Opinion: Students Should Not 'Friend' Teachers Online {ParentDish}

Aug 22nd 2010 2:48AM Lemme get this straight. The author's problem with kids "friend"-ing their teachers is that this could reveal a kid's underage drinking (etc.)? It's called ACCOUNTABLITY. Do you WANT kids to get away with dangerous behavior?!?!?!

I say this- if you "Friend" your teacher, you should behave as you would in front of that teacher. Nowadays, a prospective employer might check your FB before hiring you- what will you do then?

Hey, before anyone gets offended, I AM in high school.

Keep the Faith {MyDaily}

Jul 30th 2010 4:19PM Wow. That is so cool. Lets just hope this clerk doesn't get fired for pushing her faith at work, or even for not following company guidelines on responding to a holdup! Ah, the world we live in...

Dog Trapped in Hot Car Honks Horn for Help {Pawnation}

Jul 14th 2010 2:27PM My dog hops into my car on his own if I leave a door open while unloading it. He think we'll take him for a ride, but really he's just lucky we haven't locked him it yet! Same with my mom's cat.

J Brave Raps About His Tesla, Tesla's Stock Promptly Soars {Switched}

Jul 1st 2010 6:49PM First of all, "like throwing a dead fish to a school of perrana"? P-I-R-A-N-H-A, piranha. And they only eat live flesh. That is, Piranhas do. IDK about 'perranas'...
Secondly, what's with the shouting? You know, that doesn't actually help people hear you any better... ;) Thirdly, whether I (or anyone else) could agree with you or not, it would probably be better to post this comment on a related article. Lastly, a church is not a building. It is a body of believers in God. Let them call their buildings whatever they want- it's still an empty building.

Give Old Books New Life {Shelterpop}

Jun 27th 2010 5:32PM I completely agree! I mean, destroying books? *gasp* What is this world coming to?!?!?!? If these crafty people had only *coughREADcough* books like "Farenheit 451" or "1984" or the like instead of turning them into disposable wreathes or apple ornaments... well, they might understand how books are needed and wanted all over the world. This stabs poor book lovers everywhere in the heart!
