Vegetarian passenger tosses meat at flight attendant {Gadling}
Mar 22nd 2011 10:34PM I have been a vegetarian most of my life and would NEVER behave this way. I have been served many meals that I simply handed back to the flight attendant. If asked why I didn't eat anything, I tell them it was inedible for a vegetarian. Often, I can get some plain crackers [better than nothing].
Even if you order a special meal, you are not guaranteed of actually getting it. In fact, many times I don't get my pre-ordered meal due to flight/equipment changes. I usually bring my own snack items and try to eat at an airport restaurant if I have time during a layover.
I certainly would not take out my anger at the flight attendant. This is really a case of a rude person. I refuse to believe that this is a general statement on vegetarians' behavior.
House Trends: Is This the End of the Living Room? {DIY Life}
Mar 21st 2011 10:35PM I guess we are lucky: we have both a HUGE great room attached to our huge kitchen and a living room attached to our dining room.
Our "public" rooms are huge and spacious. On the other hand, we have verrrrry small bedrooms and bathrooms...... I guess that one has trade-offs....... Personally, while I would like a larger master bedroom and bathroom, I do enjoy our "public rooms" when we have company as there is plenty of space for people to spread out......
10 Reasons You Must Revisit - what to see when revisiting a destination {Gadling}
Mar 20th 2011 8:42PM I have been VERY fortunate to have had the opportunities to travel and attend schools outside the USA. I would love to revisit each and every place which I have ever visited or lived.
One slight problem: the travel budget!!!
Since I have limited funds [very few of us have limitless funds], I have to carefully pick and choose my travel destinations....... Rest assured that if I have the choice of visiting a place I loved vs. a place I hated....... I am going back to the place I loved!!! I simply do NOT have the financial means of giving a place another chance.......
What's in a Name (Change)? {Aisledash}
Feb 14th 2011 12:40PM I liked my husband's last name better than my maiden name. I had NO problems taking his last name.
I did have problems with people who insisted on hyphenating my maiden name to my married name. I had to pay to have our house retitled because a bank clerk refused to correct her error.
There are also some businesses that still insist on keeping my records in my maiden name despite numerous notices from me [over the past 15 years] that they need to update their records.....
Americans are least adventurous travelers {Gadling}
Nov 4th 2010 5:03AM My husband and I have been around the world several times, thank you very much. We do NOT take organized tours. Some of our trips have been for his job and others have been to visit my relatives who have been stationed "all over.......
We have hiked in the jungles, been on safaris, boated in "shark alley"....... sampled local cuisines AND taken cooking classes.
We are NOT "typical" Americans....... oh wait, we are from California....... that explains it.......
Your Guy Is Cheap -- But Should It Be a Dating Deal-Breaker? {Lemondrop}
Jun 3rd 2010 3:29AM It is one thing to "be on a tight budget" and quite another to be "stingy".......
I respect someone who states that they are "on a tight budget" and makes plans accordingly. A hike and a picnic are just as fun as going to an expensive restaurant and a movie. It is the company that counts.......
On the other hand, I would dump someone who is "stingy" [leaves no tip or a nickel tip @ a restaurant when the service was "good"]. In my mind, there is no excuse for such behavior.
I think that when both people work, both can help pay for dating entertainment. If a man wants to treat me....... GREAT!!! If he wants me to contribute, I am "OK" with it.
I would dump a date if he "calculated my share to the penny"....... To me, that is the sign of a "stingy" person.
'Lost' Star Jorge Garcia's Dog Hit and Killed by a Car {PopEater}
Jun 3rd 2010 3:12AM I am so sorry for Jorge and his family on their loss. I have 3 Chihuahuas & would be devastated by losing any one of them.
I NEVER allow my dogs to walk across a street [they are all ~ 5 pounds]. I ALWAYS carry them. Careless or reckless drivers have nearly hit us several times. These drivers just "whip around the corner" @ "top speed" & if someone is crossing the street @ that time....... they can be hit.......
Anyway, I am so sorry for Nunu. I hope that Jorge will consider rescuing another dog and learning from this tragedy.
Forgot your passport? Here's a way out! {Gadling}
May 25th 2010 4:19PM With all due respects, your advice would NOT work for me or my family: we live over an hour away from the nearest international airport!!!
I think the BEST advice is to put your housekeys, passport, wallet and flight info [e-ticket printout or paper tickets] into a ziplock baggie and pin or staple or tack it to the wall next to the front door [inside your home of course!!!] ....... then you can't leave without your important items!!!
Of course this does require planning & organization.......
New Clothes Could Make You Sick - 'GMA' Research Shocking {Stylelist (Main)}
May 17th 2010 3:41PM My husband told me I was "neurotic" for washing brand new clothes. I feel better about doing it now that I have read this article!!!
I always add 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide to my wash. I think it makes the clothes "cleaner" & helps disinfect them.
I put the hydrogen peroxide in when I add the detergent. I have been doing this for a long time and my clothes, sheets and towels look and smell very fresh!!!
Cash4Gold accused by congressman of ripping off consumers {WalletPop}
May 14th 2010 2:55PM I remember seeing those ads and thinking that you would have to be VERRRRRRRY dumb to send your valuables in the mail to a stranger....... I am NOT surprised to learn that these cos. are scammers.......
Another alternative is to take your broken gold & silver to a jeweler and see if it can be repaired....... You might not want to wear the items, but they can always be given as gifts to relatives for special occasions......
Bottom line: you won't make lots of cash on selling your gold & silver....... it is better to recycle and reuse it yourself!!!!!!!
