The Most Misspelled Word? Definitely {Lemondrop}
Jun 16th 2009 1:22AM It is amazing to me that there are so many misspelled words in the comments about misspelling words. I am a good speller. There are several reasons why. Reason 1: I took pride in being an "A" student. Reason 2: I wanted to make my parents happy and proud of me. Reason 3: My 7th grade teacher would give the class words to take home to learn how to spell them. Then, she would make us stand in front of the class and she would ask us to spell the words. If we missed a word, we got spanked on the back of our bare legs with a yardstick, right there in front of the class. In today's existence, that would probably be considered abuse, and parents would most likely side with their poorly educated children. Back then (the late '50s), I considered it to be a way to emphasize the importance of being a good speller (and the importance of doing your homework), and my parents would have sided with the teacher. Our school produced many good spellers, as you might imagine.
Spain's government-run Women's Institute calls Ryanair calendar sexist {Gadling}
Dec 13th 2007 6:08PM Are we to stand by and let political correctness take this old world to its knees. Women are supposed to be "sexy." Men (most of them) like women to be sexy. I seem to recall that God made women to be sexually attractive to men so there could be children to keep the world going after each generation dies off. I realize that the world will soon be overpopulated, but that's not my fault. It IS my fault if I stand by and let others tell me that I'm not supposed to be attracted to women. Give me a break! Get a life! Wake up! And all those sayings that apply.
