The Real Reasons Women Under 30 Aren't Having Sex {Lemondrop}

May 1st 2010 10:28PM
As an older Sr. I have seen attitudes toward sex change a lot over the years. As a young girl, the big bugagoo was the fear of getting pregnant. (Birth control pills changed that in a wonderful way. Even for married women, having too many children was a fear and release from that fear allowed us to relax and enoy sex more.) During most of the years then, I don;t believe I thought a lot about sex, but enjoyed relations with my husband almost all of the time. I did not like it if he was unshowered or had bad breath, and felt no problem with shooing him off and telling him to come back when. These days, from what I read the "exotic" (?) techniques are pushed to the limit, and if I were a young active woman I know I would be repelled by a lot of what men seem to be expecting sexually. Disgusting acts, if that's the way they seem to a woman, should not be a necessity to a man who truly loves you. If you are really OK with them, remember that they can still be very bad for your health. My
husbands are long gone and the years have made me quite satisfied to be "old and cold" or just plain satisfied with the life I've had.

Sans Wedding Ring: Restless Finger Syndrome {BV on Love}

Jan 30th 2010 10:49PM There is another reason NOT to wear your wedding ring: Someone I know, arriving at his job where jewelry is not permitted for safety reasons, forgot to remove his ring. Long story short: He lost most of his finger when the ring got caught on some machinery. Moral of the story: If you usually wear a ring, make sure you have a GOOD memory when you access any machinery.

Fiji Water: So cool, so fresh, so bad for the environment? {Daily Finance}

Aug 25th 2009 6:23PM First: I don't think people should be using plastic bottles for their water unless there is a temporary need to, such as during a flood or hurricane.
second, and more important: people need to begin to understand and appreciate that there are already shortages of water right here in the united states, (as well as in other parts of the world). think aboout what it will mean when we turn on our faucets and get either a trickle or nothing. Or we will only have access to it for an hour or so a day, or less. Will we be so cavalier about it then? some of you seem to get a big kick out of being smart-asses about this kind of thing, and only make fun of it. I hope it is only be-cause the truth scares you so much, and that underneath the sly remarks about environmentalists you will be taking their messages to heart. when and if these environnentalists are mistaken, thank god and appreciate what you have and take good care of it. amen.

The Manly Case Against Exclamation Points {Asylum}

Jun 27th 2009 10:35PM Punctuation has been with us for a log time. Maybe there is a reason for that. Instead of the need to expand our statement to clarify its meaning or spirit, for example, the exclamation point tells the reader that the preceding state-ment is not mediocre, but is meant to receive extra attention.
Emoticons have grown out of computer users' per-petual search for short-cuts, particularly by the younger generation. They are inapropriate in most other instances.

Ridiculous Women's Fashion Trends -- Spring '09 Edition {Asylum}

Jun 24th 2009 10:40PM I am not overly impressed with the fashions of today, and I often wonder if men really like the ones that expose lots of bod. I THINK you can tell when the boobs are from the cosmetic surgeon, and wonder how you feel about that. To me, they often look like anything from tennis balls to canteloupes trying to burst thru some skin--no softness at all. I also wonder how you feel about bikini bottoms. Of course, there are a FEW women who look great in them, but for the most part, the sections of the body that they leave uncovered are the least attractive or actually ugly areas of womanly anatomy. (OK, I admit I was an art major). As for everyday clothing, I doubt many of you even notice, and for the very formal wear, it's bound to look strange to the average guy who doesn't often see it. No big deal. One strange style that has been seen all too often this past year is the top that looks like, and often IS, a maternity top. My guess is that so many movie stars suddenly realized that they were getting old and decided to have a baby before it was too late. They had the clout to get the fashion designers to help them out by making it harder to tell "is she, or isn't she?", but it is not a very attractive look--just comfortable. Too bad the sun has gotten to be so dangerous, or we could all go nudist and not worry about fashion.

Beauty Company Pulls Malia Obama's Name From Product {Stylelist (Main)}

Jun 24th 2009 9:54PM My 3 girls had different reactions, but none was favorable. My own is that no matter how it turns out, this crumby, money-oriented person has gotten his money's worth out of all the publicity. I hope my kids stick to their guns and never buy any of his stuff again.

17 Famous Men With Teeny Weenies, Part 2 {Lemondrop}

Jun 15th 2009 11:38PM My Heavens! Are men still hung up on (pun intended) the size of their penis? I'm an old woman and have experienced a sampling of them and have to say that size (unless EXTREME) has almost nothing to do with sex being enjoyable for both partners. The MOST important thing is how you feel about each other and treat each other, and the rest comes naturally, and if not, communication does wonders. I can't imagine a grown man worrying about how big his or his friends' penises are! What a bunch of babies. And now, are women starting to fall into the same trap? The size of their breasts seems to be filling the corresponding silliness and needless worry.

The Most Irritating Phrases in the English Language {Lemondrop}

Jun 15th 2009 11:16PM Bling is a word that annoys me. Pro-active is another (overused). Importantly, when the correct word would be important. This one has been around for so long that even journalists are now mis-using it. Just remember that ly added to the end of a word usually denotes an adverb--a word used to modify a verb, In this case, important is the verb. Another is the insertion of the word "of" where it has no use, such as "{Today was too hot OF a day". I often wonder whether English grammar is taught in our schools now. When I read almost anything written by a teen-ager, or even a college graduate, I have my doubts. How can we hope to communicate with other people without misunderstand-ings arising if what we say is not exactly what we mean?
