Big in Egypt: Five things you can do in Egypt that don't involve Pyramids {Gadling}
May 5th 2008 11:05PM Hey Big in Japan, have your tried a sheesha in Cairo yet, preferably with a glass of steaming tea? If you are still here in Egypt, I'd be happy to introduce you to my favorite sheesha cafes.
Cheers from Cairo,

Where on Earth? Week 49 {Gadling}
Mar 13th 2008 4:36AM Mohamed Ali Mosque at the Citedel in Cairo, Egypt (where I live). I tell everyone the mosque was formerly called Cacius Clay, but not all get my humor.

Don't let that liquid contraband go to waste {Gadling}
Jan 14th 2008 2:58AM Ah, Becherovka. A friend just brought me a new bottle of the "gingerbread Christmas" drink to replinish my stock. Really, is there anything better for a chili winter evening in Czech, than sitting with your mates in a pub sipping Becherovka, enjoying a couple beers and chowing on whatever fried foods are being served that night.
Where did you head to this Thanksgiving? {Gadling}
Nov 26th 2007 12:24AM My family, a friend and I just returned from our Thanksgiving desert trek (yes, the one "s" sand, not the "ss" sweet stuff. We spent the long weekend at the Siwa Oasis, about an eight hour drive from Cairo. On the big bird eating day we drove about ten miles out into the dunes, set up camp, and dug a hole. In the hole we put hot coals, a nicely stuffed turkey wrapped in foil and more hot coals. We then covered the hole with about a foot of sand. Five hours later we started cooking the rest of our meal over an open fire. When the food was ready we dug up the turkey. Steam was coming from the hole as we pulled up the bird. And, oh, what a bird it was. The meat was juicy and tender that we didn't need the carving knife that we brought. The meat fell off of the bone...thankfully.
