California woman arrested in nail-painting incident on Southwest flight {Gadling}
Mar 11th 2012 3:32AM I hope that every person that thinks this woman had the right to expose others to the fumes of her nail polish on a public conveyence and then refused to obey the instructions of the flight attendant, will take the time to check the federal regulations with regard to what you can and can not do while traveling. You are not allowed to cause discomfort or conduct yourself in a manner that annoys others. If your actions are judged to interfere with the safe operation of a public conveyence, then you are subject to removal and arrest if necessary. Check with you lawyer if you think I'm wrong.

Mar 11th 2012 1:59AM EMS.......well put. You are absolutely right. For those who blame the flight attendant, they must suffer from this symdrome. People need to understand that they should have some common sense when traveling and if you don't agree with the flight attendant, bus driver or what ever just comply and complain at the end of the trip to a compny official, they actually do follow up on complaints.
California woman arrested in nail-painting incident on Southwest flight {Gadling}
Mar 11th 2012 1:48AM Why do people want to do things that are annoying or sickening to others while traveling in public transportation in confined spaces. Nail polish, perfume, scented powders, sprays of any kind, even eating certain foods can make others uncomfortable or sick. I drove for Greyhound for many years and people just try to do what ever they want and feel they are not required to follow rules or laws that cover everybody. Many times I had to give people the option of stopping what they were doing or get off the bus, with the help of police if necessary. The airline attendant was in the right and the passenger should have cooperated. Every person on that plane could have benn affected, not just the people next to woman in question. I'm glad she was arrested and hope others like her read this story and realize that federal law prohibits anything that might interfere with the safe operations of a vehicle in public transportation, which annoying behavior or interfereing with a driver or attendat in the performance of their duties is covered.
Your bag's perspective from Atlanta to New York {Gadling}
Dec 24th 2011 2:15AM I watched from a gate area in New Orleans and saw handlers just throwing what appeared to be u.s.mail packages through the air into what appeared to be a large wagon or luggage cart. How many were fragile? Does it matter, just the action is bad for the image of the carrier.

Driving With Your Dog Can Be Deadly - Unless You Take These Precautions {Pawnation OLD}
Aug 19th 2010 1:32AM I'm a retired professional driver and have seen some stupid things divers and there dogs do that can cause accidents. Your pet should always ride in the rear seat and not be allowed to hang out the window-----pet falls you freak and could cause an accident or get your pet killed. Pets should NEVER be allowed to sit in your lap or in any way be in a position that would hinder your quick reaction in order to avoid a dangerous situation or accident.I love my dog and if she rides in my one seat p/u truck, I've trained her to always stay on the passengers side, and if she trys to come by me I give her a command to stay on her side. I once saw a news show that thought it was very funny when they showed a video of an elderly couple who's small dog was allowed to run back and forth on the das while chaseing the windshield wipers while raining driving in the rain. What an idiot. And don't forget those little kids, same goes for them. I almost saw a toddler fall out of a rear window while the mother was driving in heavy traffic on dthe Interstate. After I kept blowing the horn numerous times, she finally realized why I was horking. Use some common sense people..the life you save may be mine.........
Opinion: Happy Meal Toy Lawsuit Is Out to Lunch {ParentDish}
Jun 26th 2010 2:19AM My kids, now 38,40 and 31, all ate happy meals and they are alive and well. My grandkids eat them to, 3,6,10 and 14. If the toy makes them happy that's great. They'll eat burgers anyway. If a parent doesn't want there kids to eat the wrong foods, then they shouldn't have kids.... There are far too many people today who want to dictate to the world what we should eat or do. I personally wish they would go live in a deep dark cave and leave the rest of us to enjoy life a little. I'm 63 and I'm feed up with people telling me what I have to do. Seat belts, air bags and all the other crap we have to do because a handfull thought it should be a law. People need to use common sense and parents need to make there kids get off their ass and get active. If any of you older folks remember the song "In the year 2525", we're geting there. Remember the woman who sued McDonalds because she was so stupid she tried to drive off with hot coffee between her legs and won. I'm going to sue BP for millions over the oil spill, because now if I can get an oyster po-boy sandwich here in New Orleans, I probable won't be able to afford it. Let's hope I win!!!!!!!!Let's keep the Happy meal and the damn toy..period.................
What Is America's Dirtiest City? {AOL Travel News}
Jun 7th 2010 9:49PM I live in New Orleans and it is a dirty city and Katrina didn't have anything to do with it. It has always been dirty. People will throw their trash on the ground even when they are just a few steps from a trash container. Go downtown and the trash is there too, they do have trash cans but they don't seem to get emptyed often enough. The French Quarter smells a little better these days due to a neww contractor to collect trashand garbage and clean streets with lemon scent cleaner. When they restripe the roads they paint right over anything laying in the way, That just the layed back way things are done here. Hopefully our new mayor will make changes.
Plane Answers: NTSB glosses over fatigue in the Colgan crash {Gadling}
Feb 8th 2010 2:05AM I wasn't a pilot, but I drove a bus for 28 years. Believe me when I say fatigue is a major problem not just for pilots but anyone whose job calls for erratic or long hours under boreing conditions such as just having to sit and watch the sky or road go by. If you work on call it is even worse. I have worked for 14 plus hours with little or no sleep (never driving over 10 hours total). I worked for Greyhound and you you were expected to be rested any time you were called for work, a joke if you worked extra (on call) you could come in at 1pm and be called in 8 hours to work again, plus 2 hours for prep and travel to work. You could take off if others were available, otherwise you had to take off sick under threat of having to see a doctor. If you took off every time you didn't have 8 hours rest (sleep) you would starve to death (lack of wages) or eventually be fired. If you worked for some small outfit they were very lax in going by DOT regulations. Anyone remember the Mothers Day bus crash in New Orleans Many years ago? That driver was in very poor health, used drugs and had actually been released from a hospital emergency room less than six hours before he had to report for work. As a result of this incident the DOT did crack down, but other than medical certification, much stills goes on that the DOT does little to do checks needed to keeps the small mom and pop operations in line. The bigger operations are not always in line either. I can say that when I worked at Greyhound they were strict about following hours of service, but that still didn't mean a driver was always well rested up..........
The new Coke mini: Pay more, get less {WalletPop}
Feb 1st 2010 11:27PM JOHN...Don't throw that remainder away. I feel the same way you do. My wife went to Dollar General or one of those store and bough a few of those caps that pop on to the can and has a srew top like a bottle and the soda stays fresh until you're ready to finish it. They were advertised on tv a while back and these are similiar and cheap. You wind up saving money by not tossing what you don't drink right away......
