Going on a trip? Stop and get a flu shot at the airport {Gadling}

Sep 17th 2009 6:21PM I think if you've never had a flu vaccine before, the airport on your way to vacation or business is not the best idea. You wouldn't want your trip delayed because of a reaction to it. But if you have had the vaccine with success in years prior, it's a convenient place to get it!

Derrie-Air, an airline that's just a dream {Gadling}

Jun 10th 2008 1:23PM but think how cheap the kid's tickets would be!!!! of course, the people who might want to be on an airplane with people who are all light-weights are likely the ones who bemoan the fact that there are children on planes.

Airport security: TSA endangers sick teen's life {Gadling}

Mar 10th 2008 10:46AM Might be worth it to ad that the Glasgow bombings were done by people who worked in the medical field for the NHS in the UK. Plenty of access to medical supplies.

You must as a person with special needs you need to take an assertive approach when it comes to flying. My son can not stand on his own, so they have to pat him down while in his chair, they swab his chair and clothes, and even his hands.

It's just part of it, but I have yet to come across a TSA employee who wasn't helpful when I asked for someone else to access a situation. Just ask.

Mar 10th 2008 10:39AM It's more for our own sake than for the sake of airport security or airline workers. We know we have a ton of stuff that the "normal" flying public does not have on their person or checked luggage. We just try to make it as simple as we can so we can try to have as normal of a life as possible.

Mar 10th 2008 10:26AM Dude...yes people can die from not having a feeding every couple of hours. My son's disease causes his metabolic levels to drop if he misses just one feeding, sometimes people can only take medicines through their feeding tubes.

Mar 7th 2008 12:54PM We travel often with our special needs child. He has 6 medications, including injectable liquids, needles, and white powder medicines that must be measured on a small scale.

We carry all of these things on our person, along with the most important piece of travel accompaniment, an official letter from his doctors. We've never been questioned, even making 3 trips to and from London in the past year.

What that TSA employee did is awful! This is exactly why we travel with double everything for our son in checked luggage, as we carry on board. Anyone who has special circumstances should call ahead, make their special needs known every step of the way, and carry a letter from their doctors. Yes it's pain, but can save a lot of trouble in the long-run

Dopplr: Social networking for travelers {Gadling}
