Undiscovered New York: Up the Hudson River Valley {Gadling}
Nov 7th 2008 4:54PM Also check out Rhinebeck, NY. Which is just a few miles North of Hyde Park, there they have a neat restaurant called the Beakman Arms. It is considered America's Oldest Inn and has ties to George Washington. Just whatever you do, avoid Poughkeepsie, drive through it and don't look back.
White pepper is just naked black pepper {Slashfood}
Oct 30th 2007 12:46AM I really dislike the taste of white pepper so much I go as far to say that I would never use it. The one situation I would use it would be when cooking a white fish, as to not leave black specs on it. Other than that black specks are worth the flavor. Also I like to use the Madagascar peppercorns, which have a sweet flavor and variety of colors.
