Two 'Dancing' Divas: Did Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin Ruin 'Dancing With the Stars'? {AOL TV}
Dec 22nd 2010 5:13PM Most of the comments and the writer of the article show that they clearly don't understand why Bristol Palin kept coming back week after week. To be sure, there probably is a Tea Party and a Sarah Palin factor at work here, but this is not the reason why Bristol was saved week after week. The reason is that a lot of people saw her literally as the girl next door - someone who didn't have a clue as to the moves of classical dancing. Yet week after week they saw her TRY the best she could to learn the moves she needed to learn.
Were the judges harsh on her? Yes, because they were expecting someone more competent and at ease in the limelight and what they got was someone who wasn't either.
But America saw that she was putting her heart into the show and learning the moves, more than most other contestants. And that is why they kept voting for her to stay. Because they could identitfy with what she was attempting to do.
California Judge Dismisses 'Birther' Lawsuit {Politics Daily}
Oct 31st 2009 7:14PM Oh, PUHLEEZE! You are showing off your ignorance by crying Wolf, er, "RAAAACCCIIIST." Most people who dislike this president, birther or not, do so based upon his policies, not upon the color of his skin. In fact, there are a great many people who still like him, but don't like his policies. There is a real flaw with the arguement that we have his birth certificate, starting with the fact that we DON'T have a birth certificate, but a certificate of live birth - which is NOT the same thing and something that the judge did not take into account in his opinion based on what little I've read of it. Then there is the revelation from Michelle Obama this week that Obama's mother may have been single when she gave birth and thus not married to Obama's father (there is corroborating evidence for this scenario), something even Obama himself acknowledged as being possible. Why spend a million dollars to hide your birth certificate and documentation of your scholastic activities unless you have something to hide; it just doesn't make any sort of logical sense to spend this kind of money defending all this in court if you have told the truth. Other presidents have had their personal histories revealed (remember Bush and the flap over his Reserve records?). Personally, I DO believe he was born here, but he does no-one any favors by continuing to hide his real birth certificate
Ad Rant: David Spade brings pal Chris Farley back from the dead to shill for Direct TV {WalletPop}
Oct 27th 2009 9:18AM In addition to all the comments about how it doesn't demean Chris Farley or his memory, there is one furhter consideration. It could also be a way for David Spade to at last start to deal with the death of his friend. It can take a very long time to deal emotionally with the death of someone you know and even more if that person was close to you. The writer of this article doesn't apear to come close to any sort of emotional connection.
JetBlue crew has woman arrested over video of fighting passengers {Gadling}
Aug 17th 2008 11:43AM Actually all trains, planes and buses are legally considered as public places, regardless of the fact that you have to pay to use them.
Mercedes McNab's Playboy shoot - NSFW {AOL TV}
Oct 11th 2006 11:20AM Actually, I'm not surprised at the "hiding" shots. If you look at most of the actresses who have appeared in Playboy over the years, lots of them did the same sort of thing: far-away shots, shots to hide parts that they feel aren't perfect. All actors and actresses are to some extent narcissic and their choice of shots indicates that - they don't want to look bad to the public.
Jericho: Pilot (series premiere) {AOL TV}
Oct 3rd 2006 1:36AM Actually, if you read a book called Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank, you might get an idea of where Jericho is heading. It was a book about a small town and how it was affected by a nuclear attack upon America. Generally shelved or filed in the SF area, but occasionally you can find it in general fiction.
Where the Hell is Michael Moore? {Cinematical}
Apr 28th 2006 10:13PM I also think he's making his next movie...and I hope it's a sequel to 9/11 showing the idiocy and lies of the Bush League. I don't disrespect the office of the president, but I can AND do disrespect the idiot in the office. The latest is this mess with FEMA - it doesn't need to be rebuilt, it just needs proper management by the person who heads it, and that should be someone who does know disaster management, not some political hack being dumped in the job.
