I Gave My Baby the Wrong Name! {ParentDish}
Jun 7th 2010 1:09PM Please change the spelling of your baby's name while it's relatively easy. At this point in life a child has a medical record but no school record, no credit history, etc. As a pediatric MD, I've seen so many names that were impossible to pronounce and others that the child will have great difficulty spelling and writing in preK. Then there are many that are pronounced differently than they are spelled. The uniqueness that was appealing to the parents is only a burden to the child.
New Jersey hotel caters to children with autism {Gadling}
Feb 10th 2010 9:12AM This hotel is to be congratulated because there are so many families in need of places like this. Not only families dealing with autism, but toddlers, parents with Alzheimers, and single parents would benefit from these features. My nephew is autistic and my mother has Alzheimer's so just getting together for a family event (recently a funeral) requires strategic planning. I hope to see more accommodations like this.
Hawaii Is the Most Expensive Summer Vacation in the U.S. {Luxist}
Apr 26th 2006 9:11AM Washington, DC, is a must for all families. Our family of four has made multiple trips and we held our family reunion in Tyson's Corner last year. All the attractions of the city are accessible from outside the beltway by metro where prices are still reasonable for lodging and food. Contact your congressman for free, no wait tickets to the White House and tour of the Capitol. Most attractions are free, but some are worth the price. My sons loved the Spy Museum and attending a Capitals hockey game.
Hawaii Is the Most Expensive Summer Vacation in the U.S. {Luxist}
Apr 26th 2006 9:06AM Hawaii is our family's favorite vacation spot. We keep the cost down by eating at local sandwich shops and visiting the grocery store for great breads and fruit. All the beaches and scenery are free, so just avoid the tourist tours and shopping. Soon there will be a ferry between islands that will make it easier to visit more than one island per trip. We have traveled with Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays 4 times and on our own 4 times.
