Nov 9th 2009 5:11PM I love NCIS, and while it does indulge in some creative license - it is a wonderful show. Yes it is a little gritty, but the world is gritty. As a cameo, let the SecNav have a little romp... he's getting minimum wage from the SAG ($486 a day, I think it is). If it adds a little realism, what's the harm? He's doing it on his time...

Nov 8th 2009 2:09PM We used a dummy cake at our wedding (we've been married 11 years and have six kids - so far, it has lasted) to the sides we had sheet cakes (since we both wanted different flavors) those were cut for the guests... and as many kids as were at our reception, we were lucky we got a piece between us!

Nov 7th 2009 11:48AM Slavery is an unfortunate fact of our country's history. The fact that a teacher brings it up, isn't to subjugate students, but rather to teach them an awful truth. Until the mid-60's blacks were not viewed as truly "people" which is criminal. The fact that History books do not teach the bare-knuckles history of country is another injustice, yet I hear no one protesting the pablum that is being force-fed to our children, all in the hopes of not "offending anyone"

Nov 6th 2009 10:46AM Don't use paper towels in the first place! I use my kids old diapers (cloth - you silly ones) they are lint free (for drying glasses) twice as absorbent, and I don't throw them in the trash. When they get damp, put them out on your solar powered clothes dryer (clothes line) they dry in about 10 -15 minutes, and you can re-use. If they get grimy wash them in with your whites... or even wash them with a little dish soap... why fill the landfill? Use cloth napkins, not paper. Use ACTUAL RAGS, not paper... use some ingenuity... reduce, REUSE, then recycle...

Nov 6th 2009 10:39AM I like comic books. My kids have them strewn all over my house, and the way I see it, my kids are literate, they don't hesitate to dream of what can be, and if comics can do that, then they are far more valuable than the English teachers we have around here!
