However its suggestion that researchers of "reputable" publishers visit every hostel they write about is absolutely incorrect -- more likely they pick up the telephone and call the place concerned. The suggestion that the researchers shy away from freebies is equally false. Some may choose not to chase freebies, but many researchers, from the very best known of publishers actively seek them out. When the story quotes LP as saying: "...do not accept discounts or payments in exchange for positive coverage" -- the key word is "positive".
