Seats on a United Airlines flight come loose, roll and injure a passenger {Gadling}

Aug 6th 2008 12:37AM Jimbo, I'd rather be on a 7dirty7 than one of American's MD-uglies! Or worse, a Northwest DC-9 deathtrap! Only planes in the air where the tailcone detaches at random!

Now where did my jumbo jet go? There it is! {Gadling}

Jun 13th 2008 12:21AM Travelman is mistaken. 72's are still flown all over the world. They're the backbone of DHL's package service here in the U.S. Champion Air (until they shut down in April) has several on their roster. The major carriers have retired them because it's more expensive to fly an airplane with 3 engines instead of one with 2 engines. Also, 72's require a 3rd person in the cockpit (flight engineer) in addition to the pilot and first officer. And they're not 35 million dollar planes. You can pick up a mothballed 72 for about 4 million, with all engines and hush kits installed.

Pilots forced to cut corners on safe fuel levels, networks say {Gadling}

Apr 23rd 2008 1:14AM This is just another case of the media trying to stir up something where it doesn't exist. The last commercial flights to run out of fuel were a Columbian DC-8 that crashed at JFK, and the Ethiopian 75 that crashed in the ocean. The Columbian plane crashed because the pilot didn't notify ATC that he had a fuel emergency, and the Ethiopian flight was because the hijackers were too stupid.

Pilots have always been under pressure to minimize fuel loadings, but they are also rewarded for their efficiency. Flight crews get bonuses based upon how little fuel they use on their flights.

And the pressure is greater now, because bean counters run our economy instead of people that know what is going on. The present day CEO's are all in charge because they are good at math, not day to day operations. Look at what Carl (sheister) Icahn did to TWA & Ozark, Frank Lorenzo at Continental. Remember PanAm, Eastern, National, America West, PSA, Western, Republic, Piedmont, Allegheny and the others? They were milked dry by the bean counters and their swarms of MBA's.

Man charged with bomb parts in luggage {Gadling}

Apr 2nd 2008 11:52PM Wouldn't surprise me a bit if this is a made up story to show how "vigilant" the TSA is, and to scare us more so we act like sheep when we travel.

Obama/Clinton Ticket Can and Must Happen {Politics Daily}

Mar 30th 2008 12:35AM If I was Obama, I would think long and hard about offering Hillary the VP job. She may help him win the election, but I'll bet she'll do a Vince Foster on him once they're in office. This woman is power hungry, and she will stop at nothing to get her way.

UPDATE: AriZona's Sweet Southern "Racist" Tea? {Blackvoices Main}

Feb 23rd 2008 2:18PM Yeah! Change the design of the can. Put the Stars & Bars on it! Or how about a trailer with 6 junk cars in the yard? Or a photo of a meth lab?

Black folks, get over it. You have never been a slave, and nobody alive today has ever owned a slave. Go to school, dress normal (not like you just got out of prison), learn how to speak English, stop listening to your rap music, and act like a human. You will be successful!

Eight mice found - dead and alive - on United Airlines flight {Gadling}

Jan 11th 2008 1:41AM I don't see what all the fuss is about. When the plane landed in China, Gate Gourmet collected all the mice, and the mice came back on the next flight as appetizers!

I guess the TSA is going to ban computers on flights now. Most computers come with a mouse.

Americans hate the TSA as much as the IRS {WalletPop}

Jan 7th 2008 1:34AM You want to end terrorism and the TSA? Stop pissing off the Arabs/Muslims! We never had problems with them until we began imposing our will and beliefs upon them. And it all began with the stinking British colonizing the mid East, so they could rape the land and steal the oil.

Love the snow globe, but don't hand carry it on an airplane {Gadling}

Nov 23rd 2007 2:40AM More insipid idiocy from our government. I forget who said it, but "People that are willing to sacrifice liberty for safety, deserve neither" is so true today. TSA was supposed to be an improvement, but they're still employing the same McDonald's rejects that have always been "airport security". Now, they just have spiffy uniforms.

Airport woes from New York Magazine {Gadling}

Nov 10th 2007 12:52AM Gregg White's comment is right on the mark! If anyone is interested in a new runway, we've got a brand new one here in STL (11 - 29) that is only used by 20 flights a day. And it only cost the flying public 1.3 billion dollars! STL could have had a brand new airport for that money, but congressmen Gephardt & Clay pork-barrelled that one through. We still have a 70 year old land-locked airport instead of something modern like Denver or LAS.
