Jul 11th 2011 3:15PM One thing, she's the babysitter - how do you think the child's mother is going to take to child rearing advice from the babysitter? Get real! Unless the mother is beating the child as opposed to spanking (there is a difference) there shouldn't be a problem. Maybe the problem is the babysitter undermining what the parent is doing. I was spanked as a child, I spanked my children and the children I babysat. None of them have problems. There were no timeouts. Children shouldn't be hit in anger and you should tell them what they've done that is unacceptable. They should be given groundrules and guidelines and you have to watch them to make sure they follow them. It's not the babysitter's job to second guess the parent. If she's uncomfortable because of the way the mother disciplines her children then she can always decline to babysit for her. If she thinks the children are being abused, report it. There's nothing wrong with a little coporal punishment now and then. Children don't like to be lectured or talked at, they don't listen and it means nothing to them (I know, my father lectured me). Children don't like timeouts, it frustrates them.

You're not perfect, something about you annoys someone somewhere, I'd like to be around to hear what they have to say to you. The airlines charge more because they can get away with it. Just like they now charge for carry-on luggage.
What does fear of fat people have to do with an idiot who can't find anyone "to do" at a bar? I don't care how much experience he has, how skilled he is or how educated he is, he's a moron. He left his mike on and spilled his personal business all over the airwaves. Didn't even stop when traffic control tried to give him a heads up. What else doesn't he pay attention to?

What about the monster who lives in the closet/under the bed? And the things that go bump in the night? Maybe if you'd told someone you would have gotten the help you so desperately need. Child molesters and Gay People are NOT one and the same. Perhaps if you'd gotten help you'd have been able to pull your head out of your rear end and see that.

Apr 26th 2011 12:36PM First you don't have any idea what she was paying for her cell phone and computer access, second she needed both to find a job. More and more cities are limiting the time you can spend online in libraries. Keeping those two things were smart. She's 23, at 23 people think they're invulnerable. I'm sure she knows better now. I seriously doubt she lived like this to rip anyone off. Would you? Just because she didn't have a mortgage doesn't mean she didn't have bills, like maybe a student loan. If she was smart she paid off as many of her bills as she could. Having lived with the fear of homelessness (and wondering when it will sneak up on me every day) I know how she feels and wonder what I would do. I don't make what she did and I'm much older than she is and my circumstances are different. I can only hope I'd do as well. I think she did a good job with help from other people. Everyone's not so lucky.

Ever seen even an outside cat picking up a potato to go with his mouse or bird? You might spot a cat now and then nibble on a blade of grass or a flower, that's about it. My housecats have small amounts of kibble during the day. Their main meal is canned cat food - fish! They have yet to ask me for a slice of bread to go with their dinner. None of the dogs I had did either, even though dogs will eat things cats don't. Too much pet food is designed to be people food. There are vegetarians who won't feed their dogs and cats meat. Their systems are not designed for that! Just as cattle should not be fed corn. Read the labels and make sure the first ingredient is meat, real meat not meat by-products. Would you eat meat by-products? Then don't feed them to your pet.

Jan 4th 2011 2:24PM I loved all my dogs, they were all my babies, but I would never have cloned any of them. They were individuals. They each had their own personalities and idiosyncracies which made them each so lovable. If I'm ever able to have another dog, that dog will be a completely new personality and loved for him or herself.

Dec 23rd 2010 2:05PM I've seen many many places that would have looked much better WITH graffiti! I think city's should have areas where graffiti is allowed with the stipulation that if you get caught outside of those areas you will face whatever the local punishment is. There are businesses which welcome graffiti artists, it's better than having to pay someone to paint your wall a boring color. Why should art be confined to the inside of a building? Art frees the mind and soul. On the other hand MBW didn't have anything to free, he was a copycat but he didn't seem to know it. Was the movie real or not? I don't know. It was interesting.

As long as the student's hair was clean and under control, what was the problem? At some point all rules need to be changed or updated. Why did the coach wait until 3 days before the game to tell the kid he had to cut off his braids? Of COURSE he got a negative reaction! He'd have gotten one anyway from someone who's worn braids for years! He just made the entire situation worse. The braids have nothing to do with safety. Stop being ignorant people. Or are you just that ill-informed? This kid's been playing basketball, do you think he doesn't know how to handle himself? No wonder this country's in the shape it's in, does anybody know what time it is? What day or year it is?
