Jan 17th 2009 7:14PM you have to submit your application then go to a clear facility to be "scanned" then it takes 2-4 weeks to get your card, YOU CANNOT USE IT RIGHT AWAY. Lame I know but I found out the hard way, so thought I'd save you the disappointment.
Had mine for nearly a year, and if you frequent airports where they have a clear station it can save you time. At JFK it usually saves me 20-45 minutes. I wish they would get a clear line at the new T5 in JFK they say they have 30 lines but 2 lines open and 28 closed is a different story, I also really wish clear would set up in vegas.
Sep 19th 2007 7:41PM Traveling with a family on SW is (or was) really great, you got the low fares and were able to preboard, in essences cutting the line and sit where you wanted. Now that they take that away if you are bringing the family you have to get there really early (sitting in an airport for hours with small kids is no fun), run the risk of being separated on board, or hope a stranger is kind enough to switch with you so you can sit together. So for someone with a family flying southwest it is actually much less attractive than paying a little more for assigned seats. My 2 cents.
