Buying a 'Bad' Home: What to Know in Case You Buy a House of Horrors {AOL Real Estate}

Nov 12th 2012 11:10AM We bought a house and the inspectors were recommended by the realtor who also owned the house 10 years before. Her husband was a builder and she had remodeled extensively. But the interim owners had done nothing and cheaply installed an in-ground pool.

The house since has cost us over $100,000 in repairs and redoing what the realtor had done. There is a mold smell in the basement during the warm weather that no one can seem to pinpoint. We bought in 2006 just before the real estate crash so now the house is worth $200,000 less.

This was a $300,000 mistake.

AOL Straw Poll: Oct. 24-31 {Politics Daily}

Oct 29th 2008 10:14AM Aalam Al-Jabir should stop stuffing the ballot box. The world is not about "Brother Barack" nor Muslims. It's about the wants of the majority. Obama is neither my brother nor a Muslim, nor is he Aalam Al-Jabir's brother. One must remember Obama half white too, not just half black. Any attempt at bringing the fringe radicals into The White House will be met by a public outcry the likes of which have never been seen. Even Brother Barak isn't that stupid.

Aalam Al-Jabir has to understand: If Obama is elected which, sadly is likely, it does not mean there was a black radical takeover of the United States. It simply means that too many people assocated McCain with Bush, who admittedly, made too many bad moves and screwed the Republican party for perhaps the next 8 years.

Socialist governments suppress and repress free enterprise. This country was built by capitalists and still rtemains the major source of worldwide business. If we redistribute wealth we take away the motivation to succeed.

This is not a welfare state. If you want a welfare state, move to Europe or Scandanavia. You'll get a free education, free health care and free unemployment. Oh, and you can be in the 65% tax bracket regardless of income. Ask any European how much they pay in taxes. It's why a black market thrives there. While you are at it, ask any young European where the opportunities are and you will get the same answer: America. Install Obama politics and you doom the U.S. to mediocrity.

Regardless of color, religion, race or creed anybody who REALLY wants to make it, can. Aalam Al-Jabir should ask himself why so many people sneak across our borders or emigrate from other countires. Elect Obama and they'll stay home.

There are millions of people who have overcome. Those who hide behind a smokescreen of blame on others are doomed to stay there.

Annoying Restaurant Trends {Slashfood}

Aug 31st 2008 12:25PM My feeling is this: Every job has it's pitfalls and high points. I understand that dealing with the public is hard, one bad customer and your whole day is ruined. This is especially true when you are serving food. Tough! Nobody ties your hands to the job. Don't like the work? Get out and make room for somebody who can take it.

There is nothing worse than being treated like an idiot by some waiter or waitress just because they are having a bad day or don't like what they are doing. It can ruin the restaurant's business and anyone who has decided never to return to a place because of improper treatment by waitstaff knows what I mean.

If that's the only kind of work you are suited for, then face facts, an ocassional *ssh*le is going to happen. Nothing takes the puff out of somebody like that is being "niced" to death. Chances are you'll never see them again anyway, so be the better person. Your next customers will make up for it.

Anna Faris Does Porn ... For Real This Time {Cinematical}

Sep 20th 2007 2:25PM Well this certainly gets her out of that teenage ditzy airhead she's been typecast into.

I want to say Bravo, but depending on how the film goes and shows, she will alwys be known as the actress who played Lovelace. I can hear the double entendres now.

She's a pretty woman and a professional actress. Sinatra played a heroin addict musician in Man with the Golden Arm.

Go for it and good luck, Anna.
