You have to take into consideration what the Land Cruiser is used for outside North America. Throughout many areas of the world, especially in third world countries, four wheel drive is part of your daily life. To have any service life under those conditions, a vehicle must be overbuilt to survive. That why the Land Cruiser is a tank. Its built to survive terrible conditions (and it'll probably easily go +200,000 miles or more before any major rebuild is required.)
Thats why you don't see many US built vehicles overseas, very few would not last.

Sep 17th 2007 10:47PM This looks like a fun route to take however I would look into alternative methods of transportation than the bus shown in the photo.
