Oct 29th 2009 3:15PM Most churches are authentically altruistic, but MANY "religious" organizations like TBN are non-profit because the leaders use the bulk of the money to provide extravagences for THEMSELVES in the form of exhorberant salaries and extensive fringe benefits. "Church assets" are often acquired and developed in order to to sustain the accumulation of wealth and personal benefits, and their charitable activites are minimal in comparison. TBN's charitible activities cannot be verified because TBN (and the Crystal Cathedral Farce) is about profiteering and self-agrandisement promoted self-righteously "in the name of Jesus".
Authentic religious organizations focus on providing support facilities that feed and care for the poor, the widows, the disabled, the children, and they provide humanitarian services for the comunity at large, as Jesus, Mohammed, and Budda instructed.
Be careful who you give your hard earned money to; instead of feeding a clever pack of wolves parading around as Pharasies, be charitable by donating to food banks and meals on wheels, by giving blood, comforting the elderly, helping the disabled, go shopping for the blind and lame, feed and house a homeless family, help the disabled apply for benefits and social programs, support your local independant living facitilites for the elderly and mobility impaired!

Sep 30th 2009 1:53PM Get real, food specials would bring a wider variety of and higher number of patrons. Most heavy drinkers fill up on drinks and do not order any food at all! And, the last thing we need on the road with texters and phoners is DRUNK DRIVERS!
These restaurants will be held liable for the drunk drivers they produce... Computerised cash registers will help lawyers prove liability, and these news articles and published bar specials will prove both liability and written intent to promote drunkenness. These blogs document the public objections... wise up restaurant owners!
DRINK AT HOME AS MUCH AS YOU WANT... Do not endanger your fellow citizens and thier families on the road by driving drunk!

Your thoughts reflect who YOU are; they have very little to do with other peoples whatevers. Don't waste time judging others, instead examine your own thoughts and actions, widen your perspective, and make adjustments to become the type of person you want to be... Remeber that your feelings follow your thoughts... when you feel disgusted, it's because YOUR thoughts are disgusting!

Sep 9th 2009 9:29PM I have several world records in sailing and trans oceanic power
boating, some achieved in my early twenties... but world record attempts should reflect ones actual abilities and skills, not ones hopes, desires or dreams! On the open ocean, being unprepared and unskilled is a recipe for disaster! Besides the container ship incident, she's made many serious mistakes and oversights... in relation, they all SCREAM overconfidence, unpreparedness, over reliance on technology, dependancy, ignorance, naivete, lack of experience, poor decision making skills, and an overdeveloped sense of entillement; NONE of which arre compatible with sailing the mighty ocean solo.
That said, IF this girl has dedicated years of her life acquiring extensive boating, navigation, and survival skills; and has sufficient knowledge, equipment, experience, strength, fortitude, and mechanical and technical aptitudes, AND she has done several long duration shake-down-cruises alone on her boat, she is just beginning to prepare herself for this trip! But if she has never sailed alone for weeks in 30ft PLUS seas and 50knot PLUS winds on a 34 ft boat, then she is certainly not prepared to attempt a round the world voyage. If she is not proficient AND EXPERIENCED at dead reckoning, celestial navigation, sextant use, and charting while she is totally exhausted, she is definitely not prepared (regardless of GPS & other high tech gadgets). If she does not have open water survival skills, basic and emergency medical training and supplies, and small boat kitchen & bathing experience, she is not equiped. If she is not a very quick "problem solver" who is smart, healthy, courageous, alert, innovative and mechanically inclined, she is not equipped. If she is accustomed to prepared "meals", sleep, encouragement, pampering, and companionship she will fair very poorly, both anatomically and psychologically.
My advice: get her onto an ocean racing team in the same class of boat she plans her voyage on. If she can't cut it on a long distance ocean racing team over several seasons, then she is not fit for a record attempt.

And yes, others may loose thier livlihood and their lives by her ignorant negligence...

Sep 9th 2009 8:44PM ANSWERS: It happened in Australia near Brisbane. She is Australian, not American. No it isn't Daddys ship, nor is she a little rich girl! She is sponsored by another world record holder and several corporations. The boat was donated to her, as was much of her equipment. Yes, she was texting and talking via radio, to the freighter she eventually hit; they started ignoring her because she should have been topside steering her boat! Yes, sailboats use sails and the wind propels them, so little or no gas and oil being spilled or wasted. No, she does not have a shadow boat, even tho you are so confident she does! Yes, she seems courageous, but is actually overconfident. Yes she has sailing skills, but no, not enough for this type of voyage!

Sep 9th 2009 7:22PM Jessica, I had high hopes for you, and serious reservations too. Now, I KNOW you are NOT qualified to sail on the open ocean solo! You just spent hours watching, tracking, and talking to a Japanese container ship in the shipping lanes, but you couldn't steer your little boat clear of a 900 ft ship at sea? And now you have the audacity to blame their language skills because YOU knowingly put your 34 ft boat in the path of a 63,000 TON vessle underway at night??? Your JOB is to steer your boat and prevent colisions at all costs, not play verbal entitlement games with big ships in the shipping lanes! Wise up girlfriend or you'll be flotsam sooner than later! You need to trade in that overconfidence for wisdom, caution, experience, and reality; the sea is an unforgiving place for the inexperienced who are to bold to see thier own stupidy!!! How do I know? Because I have world records in sailing and more importantly I have friends who lost thier limb, thier lives, and loved ones at sea due to ignorance, negligence and overconfidence like yours! May God watch over you, you will be in my prayers!

Aug 27th 2009 4:58PM Just because YOU don't know what to do in any of the aforementioned circumstances, doesn't mean she doesn't KNOW what to do! Sailors have been sailing solo for thousands of years and recorded thier voyages, effective techniques and survival skills; if you were her you'd have read up on sailing, then, studied and practiced the skills, and developed many clever tricks of your own!!! Please read the sea voyage of "The Dove"!
Answer your questions:1) secure everything, reef down, throw out the sea anchor, check your MOM gear, pee, poop & bathe, then batten down the hatches, eat well, then bunk-in for the ride! 2) inore it, catch it & eat it, or poke it's eyes out depending on your/it's situation/location. 3) check all charts & the nav aids, set course & sails, secure the wheel/tiller/ autopilot, tuen on your lioghts, and sleep soundly as long as possible! Yes, the boat can steer itself while you sleep!
