Source: Scarlett 'Devastated' by Ryan and Sandra's Budding Romance {PopEater}
Jan 10th 2011 10:50AM I agree with Joe... those un-named sources, "friends" "someone close to..." are all gossip tags for unsubstantiated rumors that no one can verify and may have been fabricated.
Helen Mirren Reveals Secret to Bikini Body in Woman & Home Magazine {Stylelist}
Oct 5th 2010 11:01AM This trim and fit 67 year old Floridian has seem plenty of fat Brits visiting here in the USA, polluting the views on our beaches with their white wobbly bits.
Kettle, meet pot.
That said, Helen is a gorgeous grand dame and I'm a fan.
A&E's Hoarders - And I thought MY place was cluttered {AOL TV}
Sep 8th 2009 2:31PM I don't normally watch reality TV, but caught one Hoarders and was hooked. I guess it's the humane way the people are treated, ie, as the troubled souls they are. There's some real sympathy for their disease and it's not played for laughs or ridicule, but as sad reality.
There's also the so called train wreck effect.. you can't quite look away, no matter no horrible the homes are. I found myself wondering how they got that way, how did they manage, will they ever be able to move beyond and lead normal lives? Some of the people are more sympathetic than others, but all face a daunting future without simple answers.
It's compelling TV.
Hospital Fires 20 Employees for Violating Richard Collier's Privacy {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Nov 2nd 2008 6:02PM A celebrity athlete of my acquaintance had his privacy violated when he was hospitalized. An orderly [for money] even allowed a photographer [paparazzi] to come into the athlete's room to photograph him while he was suffering. Fortunately, relatives noticed the guy, and alerted hospital security. The camera was confiscated and the offending pictures deleted.
But celebrity records are compromised all the time! The information is sometimes sold to tabloids. It's up to the hospitals to have controls and regulations in place. Just because a person is famous, there is no excuse for violating privacy, and offenders should be fired.
Heath Ledger Died from an Accidental Overdose, Says Medical Examiner {Cinematical}
Feb 6th 2008 12:46PM I don't think there's any proof that Ledger was "addicted" to painkillers and sleeping aids. That's an irresponsible statement.
According to the more reliable sources, Heath had been given a couple prescriptions in Europe to help him sleep in as well as having some from US doctors.
Self medicating, mixing drugs and not telling doctors what other meds one is taking is all too common. The elderly do it all the time, as do people with multiple doctors...with often tragic results.
In cases where a patient uses drugs without proper medical supervision, it's called "abuse". The patient is acting out of ignorance as to dosages, possible interactions and cross purposes. It's stupid and very unwise, but millions do it every single day.
Crowe Might Actually Talk About Football {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Oct 23rd 2007 7:47AM Alas... Crowe didn't get to talk much at all, as the announcers kept jumping on his words. Too bad, as some good sports talk was missed. Crowe has another tie to American football, as he has rather famously forged a friendship with the coach of the University of Michigan team, and is credited by some with inspiring one of the more amazing turnarounds in college football. UM had not won a single game until Coach Carr invited his friend Crowe to deliver an inspirational pre-Notre Dame game talk to the team. It worked. They haven't lost since.
New Air Passenger Screening: Round 3 {Gadling}
Aug 15th 2007 1:14PM What happened to those experimental shoe checking machines that some airports tried out in recent years? I hate removing my shoes... they make me do it even if wearing thin soled sandals. and what's with no chairs or benches to sit on while putting shoes back on? I'm fairly agile, but I've seen at least a half dozen elderly fall over or wind up on the floor... and also seen some pushed through security in a wheel chair and not have to remove their shoes. hummmm
Talking Travel with Anthony Bourdain {Gadling}
Aug 15th 2007 1:02PM I love the show, because I share his attitude towards travel and indigenous foods. I just wish he wouldn't encourage the eating of endangered animals.
Also, his disregard for health issues when eating street food is not just " a little extra bathroom time" for some. I've had vacations ruined by days of gut wrenching dysentery and a friend wound up with dangerous abdominal parasites and required a long hospital stay and debilitating courses of treatment.
But that said, I notice that Anthony usually eats well cooked, freshly prepared market and street food, which greatly diminishes the chance of a tummy bug. I learned that lesson the hard way. It wouldn't hurt for him to mention health concerns.
I happily eat some odd local foods when I travel, as it's part of the experience, but I'm discerning and aware, as we all should be.
Monday Morning Poll: The Return of Your Favorite Movie Character {Cinematical}
Aug 1st 2006 8:20AM As a Patrick O'Brian fan, I have to agree with Sophie. We need more adventures of the swashbuckling Capt. Jack Aubrey from Master and Commander. There were 20 books in the series and plenty of material for a new film, this time with some romantic interests, of which there were plenty in the books.
Russell Crowe was memorable as the bluff, fearless, capable, Captain. What a nuanced performance!
Russell Crowe, Prince of Providence? {Cinematical}
Jul 18th 2006 2:36PM Aw, come on. Crowe's not that bad. He wants some input, has some ideas, because he sees himself as a participant in the film process. Ask Howard, Mann or Scott about it... they've both said in interviews that Crowe does meticulous preparation and research, and just wants is a chance to be heard and that he brings some good ideas in, but isn't insistent on changes. If a director doesn't want a terrific Oscar caliber actor collaborating, maybe one should ask what they're afraid of....
Just take a look at how Crowe crafts his characters. Each is different, each is absolutely true to the story and the script. He's amazing.
On set, Crowe is notorious for only one thing... being a total professional.
