However, Johnny Pesky was a great Red Sox player in the '40s and is pretty much still a regular at Sox home games, even though he is in his 90s!

Apr 11th 2009 6:02PM The point isn't mingling with fans, it has nothing to do with just walking down steps. If the fans push and shove trying to get an autograph or to shake his hand or touch him and a player gets knocked down and he gets hurt bad enough, there goes the game or season or possibly a career. Greeting fans on the sidelines or in a controlled setting is one thing, a near mob-like setting is another.
