Feb 16th 2008 5:05PM Regarding the low wage for servers, and the fact that they're taxed on more: Most servers I know under-report earnings and never realize that they take home about 30k in cash per year. Tipping 15% is adequate for normal service. Since the restaurant bill went up with inflation, the tip went up proportionally; you don't have to tip at a higher rate. For example, the meal was 10 bucks before; 15% was 1.50. Now the meal is 25; 15% is 3.75. I wish my income was keeping pace with inflation!
