Does your passport photo still look like you? {Gadling}

Jun 7th 2011 8:25PM Yardbird: Not only THAT - - but it makes me a little bit nervous that busy people checking passports won't take the time to be sure that the person is the same. None of them look kin to me. (even MORE nervous ha ha )

Sketchy or Straightforward? CoverGirl Mascara Ad Uses Fake Lashes for 'True Volume' {Stylelist (Main)}

Jun 1st 2011 5:10AM It's hard to resist responding to this. . . I've been selling Mary Kay Mascara for almost 40 years - - believe me, I KNOW what mascara can do and what it can't !!! Since the month I signed up to be a consultant, I was advised to 'buy the eyelashes' and learn how to wear them etc. etc. etc. I still use mascara on my 'real ' lashes . . .then apply the false lashes almost every day of my life !!! I use Ardell - InvisiBand - - DemiWhispies - Brown - - They cost about 4.50 a pair. . .. and one pair can last for MANY months. I clean them by putting them in a small bottle of lighter fluid. . ( tiny bottle ) - and blot the adhesive off . . .gently. .. using tweezers to hold them etc. If you're REALLY interested in seeing how to do this, you can e-mail me and I'll flip-camera the process for ya. juneaukahn@aol.com Lots to learn out here. Blessings to you

Sunscreen Dangerous? Experts Shed Light on the Controversy {Stylelist (Main)}

Apr 11th 2011 4:01AM I had typed a huge response and then it 'disappeared ' Boo Hiss
So I'll try to reconstruct it.

In 1970 my husband, who is a board certified surgeon, gave me a small pamphlet about skin care and the theme was how ultra violet was so damaging. I was twenty-eight years old. . . of course, I didn't have a wrinkle nor brown spots. .. . BUT, I had just signed up to be a Beauty Consultant in Mary Kay, and I was VERY interested in the skin, the medical stuff about it etc. etc.
About a year or so later, I went on a 'hunt ' for some sunscreen that would work well with our Day Radiance Foundation. .. . found one. . used it every day. Of course, a few years later, Mary Kay made our own sunscreen and also put sunscreen stuff in other products.
Well -- now, I'm almost 70 and I don't have any wrinkles, my smile-lines etc. are minimal, don't have brown spots and keratoses (don't know how to spell it) stuff going on. I'm as sure as I can be that sunscreen has been the salvation of my skin.

You can see my picture on Facebook and know that I'm telling the truth.
Take care of your skin --- your largest organ of your body - -- and know that if neglected, simple skin cancers can progress and ultimately kill you.
If you live long enough, you WILL have some sort of skin cancer.
It's never too late to start protecting. And certainly, never too late to teach your children and grandchildren.
Blessings to all of you - - -

Sunscreen Dangerous? Experts Shed Light on the Controversy {Stylelist (Main)}

Apr 11th 2011 3:41AM WOW !! I have a huge file of 'stuff ' I've collected about sun damage etc. since 1970 !! It looks like the 'rules' haven't changed: the sun is not our friend ; every moment of exposure is 'remembered' in the cells of our skin; if we live long enough, we WILL have some spot of skin cancer on our body; if we don't take care of it, it progresses and it can kill us.
Well - I read a small pamphlet about this in 1970 .. . given to me by my husband who is a board certified surgeon. . .. I was 28 years old and not a spot on my skin and certainly no wrinkles yet. Twenty-eight year old people don't think they will EVER have a wrinkle, much less skin cancer !!! BUT. . . I had just signed up to be a Beauty Consultant in Mary Kay and I was totally interested in the medical things about our skin. In 1970, Mary Kay had not one single item with sunscreen in it. I'm thinking it was about 1972, and I went on a 'hunt ' for some sunscreen that would work well under our Day Radiance Foundation and I finally found one. So I followed the directions and everything was great. Then, M.K. developed our own Sunscreen (SPF 30). .. and also included some other products with sunscreen. All of this to say: I'm almost 70 and I'm as sure as I can be that sunscreen has been the salvation of my skin. I don't have any wrinkles, the normal lines are minimal, not one single brown spot or freckle, only one brown spot on the back of my right hand ( probably exposed to more UV when driving ). . . but I've used Efudex on it, and it's not pre-cancerous. This has to be the most important thing I've done to stay healthy !!! Some experts think that the UV damage does some sort of damage to our skin cells then sends some damaged cells throughout our body and causes cancer in other places ( in that we can't figure out how we got cancer there ). . . Of course, I'm not even suggesting that this is exactly correct, and perhaps we'll never know the complete truth about this, BUT. . . I've chosen to act like this might be true. THE SUN IS NOT MY FRIEND. Period. Sunscreen (SPF 50 most every day . . .gloves when I drive, sleeves even in the summer, etc. ) is the best thing. You can see my picture on Facebook and know that what I say is true.
You'll never regret taking care of this most precious organ of your body -- the largest. . . and certainly if it becomes damaged enough, it'll be your reason to die early. This awful stuff is soooOOOooooOOOo preventable.
I've even been present when a friend of mine had to have a cat put to sleep because of skin cancer on her ears . . . and it spread. . .and she was in horrible pain and suffering. I'll never forget it.
Again --- my 'sermon ' . .. . Someone ( about age 29 or 29 ) will 'listen' and will pay attention.
Blessings to all of you

Stila One Step Makeup - I Tried It! {Stylelist (Main)}

Feb 22nd 2010 11:52PM Hardly anyone pays $44.00 for a foundation - and anyone who does, is crazy. This writer ( C. Dunlop ) is NoT the person of experience to listen to, either - - she's obviously lazy about taking care of her skin. . .the largest organ of her body. Not a single word about sunscreen- - - I'm sure I won't be around to see her when she's my age but you can check out facebook and see what almost 70 looks like with 40 years of Mary Kay. Doing the right thing will always pay. . .neglect will cost.

Smoking Bans on Cruise Ships Cost Millions in Cancellations {Gadling}

Sep 10th 2007 1:03AM I never thought I'd live long enough to have smoke-free airplanes. . .but now we do !! Finally another industry is getting wise. I've been on over 48 cruises. . .on several lines, and there's nothing worse than sleeping on a 'smoker's pillow ' - - - Why can't smokers understand a simple concept: they stink and we're tired of it !! THANK GOODNESS that the cruise lines are paying attention. I'm blessed.

Smoking Bans on Cruise Ships Cost Millions in Cancellations {Gadling}

Sep 10th 2007 12:57AM I didn't think I'd live long enough to see 'NO SMOKING' on an airplane - - Now it's finally somewhat clean air. . .. . I've been on over 48 cruises on different lines and I'm so happy to see that they are paying attention. I can't stand to sleep on a pillow that has had a smoker in the room. Why can't smokers understand the simple things about this: they stink and we don't want to smell it !! Their 'rights ' end where my nose begins !! PERIOD end of conversation
